I’m going to say that this time he believes what he’s saying.
I’m going to say that this time he believes what he’s saying.
Another option is convincing them that you will actually fight for some of the policies they care about.
Why is it always one side that has to swallow hard? The few days when Bernie has the lead and was even winning the head-to-head polls, the “center” Democrats could be quoted refusing to say they’d vote for him against Trump, starting with HRC.
I’ve read this kind of reaction many times already and I don’t understand it.
I understand that progressives have to make lemonade with whichever fruit they are offered.
As I see it, those who voted for Biden in the primary are the ones who voted for 4 more years of Trump. They voted for a candidate attending to a single issue (getting Trump out of the White House), but that issue is a minority concern among all voters (Democrat primary voters PLUS Democrat primary non-voters,…
The way I see it, those kids are victims of abuse. Raising children to spouse hateful beliefs should be considered a form of abuse.
I don’t see Elizabeth Warren unendorsing Biden and announcing that she rejoins the race because the democrats cannot have a rapist candidate anymore.
That is true.
B is already halfway there. If the Democratic party finishes the clean up of leftists, and the Republicans begin to endorse economic populism in earnest, getting a bigger share of the blue-collar workers, the change will be complete.
As far as I can see, there’s only one solution. The left has to ally with the Democratic party under the explicit condition that as soon as the Democratic party has enough power to do it, they will move congress from FPTP to proportional, and presidential election to a ranked voting. That way the left and the…
And B is already happening. Trump is a grifter rather than an actual fascist, but Republican voters have signaled they are ready for fascism. Meanwhile, the Democratic party is pivoting hard away from the left towards welcoming the Republicans that find Trump too uncouth (although not too racist, nor too anti-poor).…
Most of the non-voters I know justify it saying that their vote doesn’t change anything.
There’s one question in this case: what is going to cause more damage?
“We are prepared to fight in Congress to save this system from collapse and strengthen it for the challenges ahead.”
First, let me say I don’t think I would stay at home if I could vote. At least in my mind there’s a difference between thinking and saying “This person makes me not go to vote for them”, and actually not voting for them. I don’t want to publicly endorse certain politicians.
When it comes to harm done, a Biden/nobody…
What I want in a president is not is not experience, specially not right now. A president has to have a project, something he or she wants to improve for society. A program. Something that they will put the full weight of their political capital to achieve.
Why don’t I think experience is necessary? For the same reason…
You’re writing off a large chunk of the country, even a majority. The people who perceive Trump as an existential threat either are primary voters or cannot vote (I’m in the second group).
Trump has changed how things work. The next president should take good note of all the presidential powers that Trump has “discovered”.
All the votes from Bernie supporters are not enough to win an election. Putting all your effort into shaming people who were already most likely to vote Biden is a waste of time, effort and good-will.
