Don't feel too bad. Not being very familiar with Dr Strange, I thought it was some character, too.

Indeed, they're both assholes but only one was a trained professional failing at his job.
I wish I'd thought of this earlier since no one is likely to see the 6 million-th comment on this article but I think there's a more likely conundrum to occur in the near future than encountering intelligent aliens. What happens if/when we clone a Neanderthal or some other early hominid? Jesus was a human, not an…
Seriously, you can't make something this dumb up.
That was an insane amount of buzz, truly. But I think we'll be seeing more single-person transports like this as the years go by. They need to accepted more and new infrastructure needs to take them into account before such things can really take off. I think it will get there eventually but the revolution is still in…
Never saw it, but that sort of treatment is pretty typical for Biblical depictions (in the US, at least). Just like how Jesus is usually shown as white.
I'll bow to others' superior knowledge but I have to say that the first thing I think of when I hear the word "Persia" is not a guy from a Swedish noble family.
My first thought was Jake Gyllenhaal in the Prince of Persia movie.
So, is actual Victorian sf (Jules Verne, etc) not considered steampunk?
I'm more of a bystander in this one, but here goes.
I agree that if they're going to do a comic, then that is a decent premise for an issue. I was just saying that the show having revealed Donnie's (relative) innocence defused my interest in that backstory greatly.
Oh, and to clarify, I'm definitely a comics fan so that's not a factor in my disinterest. I just really think that most of what this show has going for it hinges on its live-action implementation.
I was more interested in the Donnie/Alison backstory when it still looked like Donnie might be some deep-cover superspy (granted that is still a possibility given the overall twistiness of the show's plot). Now that they've shown he was just sort of duped into spying on his wife, I don't really have any burning…
Agreed. I just posted this same sentiment (hadn't seen your comment yet when I posted).
Can't get too excited about this. Don't get me wrong, I've seen every ep of this show and will keep watching it in the foreseeable future. But the story isn't the draw at all; honestly it's often kind of dumb. No, the draw is definitely the excellent performances, mostly Tatiana Maslany's many roles and to a lesser…
Maybe I'm off here, but I really only see two kind of comics ever get discussed on io9. There's the "usual suspects" big-name superheros (usually the ones in blockbuster movies) or obscure artsy stuff. Pretty much everything I read falls in the middle: Vertigo series, Mignola universe, League of Extraordinary…
Agreed. Sure I like the MCU movies, but how many articles a day do I need about them?
My understanding is that the difference between additive and subtractive models applies to only to mixing colors but not to determining color harmony (i.e. whether blue goes with orange). Is this correct?
I'm just becoming familiar with this stuff and I've got some general questions about color theory for anyone knowledgeable.
That's one way of looking at it but incomplete. The problem is that thermodynamics and entropy are emergent concepts which arise due to the statistics of large aggregates. A cloud of electrons can have well-defined thermodynamics, but a single electron cannot. However, a single electron still experiences time.
