I'm a big podcast fan, I listen to a ton of them. And Smodcast was what started it for me. The original ones, when it was just him and Mosier shooting the shit for an hour a week, were awesome.

While I agree that there is certainly a bit of overload, I think the mistake is in comparing podcasts to albums. I don't think that's how people really experience them. To me it's more like radio. You listen at work, or while driving, or doing some other mindless task. I usually knock one out while doing dishes or

I think Maron twice a week is a good thing. It works well when he has a lesser known guest on for one episode and someone a bit more famous on for the other.

I imagine Marc Maron is having half an existential crisis right now because he could never get the President on WTF.

Tweedy has said in a few different places that he/Wilco have absolutely nothing to do with this release.

I'm an NNF fan and honestly he is one of my least favorite guests. I would put this one above some of his other appearances though. I did get tired of the Tom Cruise talk, goddamn that dragged on.

I was literally doing that when I started reading your post.

It's really not bad. Maybe 3-5 songs too long and probably would have been a stronger album with better song selection. Some of the Machina II songs are way stronger than the ones on Machina I.

Maron is probably reading this right now and having a meltdown. I hope you are all pleased with yourselves.

This episode was fine. Mira and Jonah were relatively quiet compared to a lot of other episodes. But you know, it is their podcast, so they speak occasionally (much to the chagrin of many an AV club poster).

@avclub-b10ec5bd6b2d491d3a1fb43631adf750:disqus I'll just meet him at Denny's.

Yeah, we have reached the point where this is a thing:

Agreed.

You forgot to shit on Nerdist. That's a requirement.

In a weird train wreck kind of way I'm almost looking forward to that.

I just got an e-mail from a local theater letting me know that Creed is going to be doing an "intimate" performance of Human Clay and that I should make sure not to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity… Oh boy…

Are they just trying to get awkward/out of touch guests at this point?

I could have listened to another hour of Schmidt on Mental Illness Happy Hour. I'm a big NNF fan, but never got around to 40 Year Old Boy. I think I may have to give it a shot.

No, it most certainly isn't.

The Illuminati crap was funny. But don't think AV Club would have missed the chance to shit on Skrillex and Korn in the same review.
