Howdy,

deleting comments
A more official "policy" will be posted later today. It should be obvious, Joe 11, that your post is going to be deleted, so why not just hold tight for a few hours? The world can live without it.

Yes…
I sampled some at the store and couldn't really taste the bacon, either, but once you get a meaty piece (pun intended), you'll know it. Also, the sandy bits of bacon at the end are what I found alluring.

Tough nut, and…
I don't think he's the easiest interview in the world, so give Ms. Gillette some credit there…

500th!
I win a prize.

A Hundred And Firsties!
Yes, a hundred and firsties!

Hello Fine Commenters
It's encouraging to see the level of discourse here — the thoughtful comments versus troll ratio is great. I always want to note with these Inventories that we _love_ people to suggest things that we missed. (We appreciate it when you say, "Hey, you missed this" rather than "Hey assholes, you're

Some Careful Reading…
Before we get too deep into the comments (fifthies!), please note: It's GREAT films, thus eliminating Norbit, Johnny Mnemonic, etc. Second, it was pretty much impossible to pick only one Michael Haneke film, which the Seventh Continent entry mentions. (So The Piano Teacher and Funny Games are

I'm a bad man
First off, I forgot a grade. How about C-?

I love indie
And I love Jason Heller, though I don't really have much of a taste for the heavier end of his spectrum. (My rockness ends with Fugazi and Rocket From The Crypt, though I can appreciate a little Cave In.) And I'm happy as hell that he writes for The A.V. Club precisely because he has a unique area of

The real Ken Vandermark
The real Ken Vandermark probably hates most of the sax on this list. Help, I'm choking!

Howdy
First off, thanks for all of your comments. I just wanted to point out a couple of things in response.

Not you Zaxxon, you're one of the good ones
In my semi-serious roundup of last year's movies (which you can time-travel to here: http://www.avclub.com/conte…, I gave The Fountain a grade of ABCDEF. I think it's a failure, a fiasco, and a secret success. And I recommend it based on that!

If you want the spirit of The State
Check out The Ten, directed by David Wain, written by Wain and Ken "I wanna dip my balls in it" Marino. It's by no means perfect, but ultimately more rewarding (I'm guessing) than Balls O' Fury. I'm sure there's a review of The Ten on this here site somewhere… www.avclub.com/content/

I will ruin the surprise and say..
That Boxer is my favorite album of 2007. Something pretty phenomenal would have to come along to top it at this point. That said, for the person who asked where to start with The National, I'd say 2005's Alligator.

Ummm…
We're discussing this movie a lot this week because, ummm, it comes out this week. Just like we run record reviews and band interviews close to the release date. (When should we discuss Superbad? Two months before it comes out? Two months after?) The reason we're paying a lot of attention to this particular film

Johnny Utah
It's not our place to censor or stifle discussion, Johnny Utah, but that was just plain cruel. (I realize/hope that it wasn't malicious.) I deleted your comment; I would've just deleted the spoiler, but we can't edit comments, just delete them. Now, everybody who hasn't seen season four of The Wire, umm,

In its defense (but not really)
The score for The End Of Violence (by Ry Cooder) is amazing. The soundtrack is pretty good, too; It includes a collaboration between Michael Stipe and Vic Chesnutt, plus stuff from DJ Shadow, etc. But the score (available on a separate CD from the soundtrack) is excellent.

Ummm…
As one of the editors he's talking about, So Let's Get This Straight, you've got it all wrong. I thought the piece would be interesting, but we all agreed that the interview with Gina McCauley wasn't really "national" material. (Based on the comments today, that appears to be wrong — and we'll probably remedy
