I think it depends on the car. My twenty year old VW needed new struts and I opted for mid grade coilovers. The car handles way better and looks hella tight yo. No I don’t actually talk like that. Oh, and rimz.
I am on board. My ‘95 Jetta VR6 commuter has 194k miles and I just did chains, clutch, axles etc. This car requires some new mechanical part or repair about every two months but I like working on it, so we will be going to work together for the foreseeable future.
I actually already started down that path. I own a rebuild-able 350 and some new vortex heads with intake. I also did some trading for a Muncie M-20 but by the time I rebuild the 350 and the 4-speed I could buy a $5-6k LS with its Tremec 6 speed attached.
Somewhat related; my local municipality has one motorcycle that they can ride. Its a modified Kawasaki Vulcan that is terribly easy to spot because the officer is required to wear a green safety vest while riding. The attempt at stealth is a complete failure.
I have a ‘77 model in my backyard right now, just wanting for a second life until I click the “buy it now” LS3 on eBay.
Logging and chip trucks are dangerous in the North too, for all the same reasons, oh and one more, snow.
The SL350 was my first bike too, in 1988. Have upgraded to ‘74 CB360 along the way, which cost $900 not $5k.
Nice video, I would like to see him ride a desert track that is not so perfectly smooth though. Where are the three foot deep whoop sections?
I didn’t realize these cars were nearly the same size. Seeing photos of the Aston is looks big, much bigger than a 911. Obviously we don’t see many Aston Martins driving around Montana, none actually, Porsches yes.
I cross the US/Canadian border a few times a year. When they decide to pull you in you hope all those hollow point 22 bullets have been removed from the glove box after the last varmint hunt. They really get excited about hollow point bullets because they are illegal in Canada.
Always thought it would be cool to have a 70 El Camino to haul my dirt bike around. Like this but without the giant wheels.
My polarized sunglasses create some odd lines in the shield of RF1000 at certain sunlight angles but the benefits out way the downside.
Found the medical supplies salesman...
I signal to other motorists a lot. I am not sure how many of them understand why I am flashing my lights, but I would guess a few of them realize when they come up on a herd of elk in the road, or some other hazard I deem noteworthy.
I agree about sunglasses. Plus when you roll into town you can flip your visor up for some air, while your eyes are still protected.
I remember the first time I worked on a friend’s Previa. He had hit a deer and I was installing a new grille and hood and cleaning up the paintwork. I was quite surprised when I opened the hood and realized there was no engine there. Where did they hide the damn engine? I snooped around and found something resembling…
Exactly. I am thinking this great van was a 91 Caravan and it turns out to be a 03 Honda?!
Apparently it happens in Fargo also, see season two.
Winner.
