Shitty Take,

The way that everyone is so eager to call a series “over” after a single showing has become one of the more grating things about postseason NBA analysis. We’re not talking about Warriors/Suns here. It was a single home loss. Calling the Rockets “desperate” right now was always going to be a major stretch.

But wait, the way y’all wrote after Game 1 I thought the Rockets were basically the Washington Generals out there? You mean, the team that won 65 regular season games and the first 2 rounds in 10 games total is actually GOOD?

Oh no wait, the Warriors were just bored. In Game 2 of the Western Conference fucking Finals.

Thank you, I saw the same stat and in that light this was a pretty garbage article.

Never let facts get in the way of a bad, boilerplate, almost-certainly-didn’t-watch-the-game narrative.

“Game 2 saw Houston move away from their signature style of depressing isolation...” — according to ESPN, they actually ran almost the exact same number of isolation plays as in Game 1, which according to their data bureau was the most any team has run in any game in five years.

2948 Giannis-related articles can’t be wrong!

Where’s Burneko with a mea cupla? Not saying this is a series, but in his last post he pretty vehemently said there wouldn’t be a Game 5, I believe the quote was “Almost Certainly”.

Everyone hate Bill Simmons and Skip Bayless, but the things that make them hateable ( vaguely lucid hot takes and attention whoring contrarianism ) are the same things that make them successful. Now every sports pundit wants a slice of the bloviating dickhole pie, because being rational and/or correct doesn’t pay as

Yeah the “the Rockets only play iso crowd!” seems to ONLY pay attention to that particular part of their game. I never intentionally watched any of their games this season, but when I caught some of their games on national TV it seemed fairly obvious they could move the ball around. Since when is D’Antoni’s offense

The Rockets only had one more pass in game 2 than in game 1 and only one less possession that went ISO. The only thing that changed was their intensity on defense and all the turnovers that allowed them to get out and run. They did make an effort to get the ball down the court much quicker too and not allowing the

I’m of the opinion that playoff teams should always be desperate ( in sports terms, ‘desperate’ basically just means ‘very motivated’ ). Teams that aren’t desperate tend to go home early.

“As well as Houston played, the Warriors seemed affected by the team boredom that occasionally showed up in the regular season”

Fuck this take. This is the fucking Western Conference finals and that’s a lazy as shit take.

How are the Rockets “desperate”? Because they lost game 1, and there’s a built-up narrative about the unbeatability of the Warriors? Everyone wants to talk about how shit “resets” in the post-season, but it’s worth remembering that the Rockets won their season series with the Warriors 2-1. They are far from

His actual brother was there in the crowd talking shit to Durant and making him real mad. That’s basically an assist.

This is by no means a sign that the Rockets will go on to win the series. As well as Houston played, the Warriors seemed affected by the team boredom that occasionally showed up in the regular season, and that will likely go away as they return to the Bay Area

I’m curious to see how far this analysis can be taken.

Calling a very good team recovering after a listless Game 1 desperate is some creative narrative control.

“It was actually fun to watch”

Eric Gordon making Burneko look like a pear-shaped Bill Simmons.
