I used to buy necco wafers as at 30 cents, it was the cheapest candy at the self-checkouts at a nearby grocery store. I didn’t have a local bank account, so getting cash back on a 30c purchase was better than a $3 ATM fee. Of course, if I actually needed groceries, I would skip the wafers and just do my shopping.

I recommend that everyone start their research with whatever public works department or service picks up their trash and recycling. They’ll usually have the common questions in a FAQ section, so you know if they even take the container you are thinking about before you worry about cleaning it.

Hmm, I assume they’d leave a lot to be desired, but I’m imagining touch sensitive surfaces, like the touchpads on the steam controller in each of those round face surfaces where directional pads and face buttons are normally kept.  Missing the feel of buttons, no obvious border between face buttons, I’m sure it would

Semolina flour. Shelves didn’t have pasta, and I know at some point I’m going to want pasta. Then with the whole “not going outside anywhere near as much” thing I decided to cut down on my calorie intake, and pasta, bread, and rice are being left out for the most part. Luckily, it’ll keep for when I get around to it.

Shit, getting tanked and playing Soda Drinker Pro would qualify you as much as Trump.

Yeah, location probably factors into it; when I open the site in a browser it warns about delays, but if I open it in incognito mode, that warning isn’t there.  It hadn’t occurred to me, but it makes sense.

I’m waitlisted too; it’s not really a surprise; the services I had already been a customer of (butcherbox and blue apron) had also had to waitlist new customers, and other services I had considered have as well.  Given that imperfect foods is dealing in fresh produce among other things, and their gimmick is reducing

Is this assuming you were an imperfect foods customer before now? I tried signing up April 6th, with my 1st delivery scheduled to be on April 24th. Within the next few days that got pushed into an unspecified date in May, and yesterday I received an email update about the waitlist I am now on explaining that they will

Other more realistic possibilities would include fast food closing down individual locations, and related companies operating multi-brand ghost kitchens for delivery-only service in locations that would support it; a single kitchen spitting out mixed orders for Yum brands foods may have less overhead than having a

I mean, spitballing, I’ve got some guesses at possibilities. First possibility: in a post-coronavirus world, most non-chain restaurants either never reopen, or close in short order, resulting in chains competing heavily to completely seize the market, with taco bell emerging victorious in the franchise wars; all

I mean, I kind of liked the blockbuster near my apartment towards the end. Back when netflix was a mail service, and blockbuster had a similar service. With blockbuster you could do your returns at a physical store, and as soon as they checked in, the next discs in your queue would ship, and they’d give you a short

Time will tell. Haven’t been buying gas for the commute I’m no longer doing, not buying lunch at work 2 days/week, no longer buying beer or wine flights at breweries or wineries on the weekend. Fewer trips to costco or the grocery store, and when I do go out to do my shopping once/week (my trip out this past weekend

I definitely buy mac and cheese occasionally. Usually the store brand, because it all tastes the same. I’ve been making some changes though; instead of butter and/or milk, I’ve been using 0% fat skyr yogurt, and adding hot sauce. At some point a few months ago, I came across a kraft macaroni and cheese powder at

I’ve been thinking about getting a countertop dishwasher. Probably not going to actually do it, but I was sort of picturing putting it where my current dish rack is.

Given the current circumstances, they’re maybe less overpriced than they usually feel. If you are actually one to eat at a restaurant, the price can be comparable, but it is interesting how a lot of those services ended up with enough of an uptick in demand where they have wait lists, as well as less selection; Blue

I mostly got blue apron to try new things; I’m technically subscribed to it, but aside from that meal prep kit in March, my last box was in August; every few weeks I take a look at upcoming recipes to cancel the next month or so worth of meals, unless there’s something that’s radically different from what I already eat

My workplace has taken a “we’ll figure it out later” approach to what happens to our vacation time. They’ve discussed the ideas of either paying out however much we aren’t able to rollover to next year, or increasing the amount of vacation we can carry, but haven’t announced a decision, probably in hopes that things

I’ll keep an eye out on my cards for this sort of thing. One card in particular sticks out as both the most vulnerable and potentially large in impact if it were closed; my oldest credit card hasn’t been used for anything but a monthly streaming subscription for years; Hopefully that’s enough to keep it from being

I had started looking into meal planning before the pandemic; it was never really a skill I had developed, and Blue Apron recently added “meal prep” options to their somewhat overpriced service. With their plan you get ingredients to make 4x 2-serving meals with instructions to cook them all in one session. The one I

I actually watched this movie for the first time last year. What really got me was how real the carotid cerebral angiography scene looked. I mean, it wasn’t surprising to read later that they had shot it in an actual hospital, and the people performing the procedure were the actual medical staff who would be
