Well, the best and coolest way would be to have a good movie that ends with your character dead, and don’t come back. Something like Logan, where first and foremost it is a good movie, and not just a superhero movie.

To be fair, it is probably not a bad idea to split up the hero and famous villains for the first entry in a set of movies. Assuming you are going to spend some time on origin and character development of the hero, you run a pretty big risk of making things feel forced if you have to shoehorn a big bad in there.
