i believe in the imdb sub-sections for primer there's a link(possibly FAQ's?) for some grad student's analysis of the diverging timelines of the film that's fairly dense but rather cogent and logical.i found it helpful.

i think i first saw this when i was around 14 in '85 and being slightly bewildered and put off,then seeing it for the 3rd time in '93,fully tripping on acid and really,really getting it in a big way.much better that time.
