I disagree that Hard Boiled and John Woo didn't influence American action movies. The whole twin guns thing became huge after this film. I went to Second City in Chicago the Saturday after the election, and they did some mild political stuff. After guffawing for 40 minutes these middle-aged women stopped laughing and were like "why do they have to be political." Why? Why? Because its comedy! Comedy is politics!
