I'm also a non-book reader, and I've had some frustration with the opaque nature of the plot. I do think it's slowly starting to gel though.

Reminded me of a cat marking territory.

Re: Did anyone see that recent article that mortality rates are 10 - 15% lower in regular church attendees even though those same populations are 50% less likely to have health insurance?

Media was a pretty big thing in 2001 too. Has been for quite a while.

Bullets are aerodynamically designed to minimize friction

Meh. His day is over and he's losing worshipers at a goodly pace. The GOP is turning more and more to Mr. World and other new gods.

The remains of a crucifixion victim was found some years back. The nail holes aren't in the hand as crucifixes show, but rather in the wrists where the forearm bones are strong enough to support a body. The feet however were generally left free so the victim could stand on a small traverse piece of wood (this is

A quibble I had with the sequence in general: Hispanic Jesus shouldn't be coming to America just now. He should have shown up on Ponce de Leon's galleon five hundred years ago, and popped up in Florida, New Mexico and California quite regularly before the Stars and Stripes ever flew here. He should have been waiting

I'm someone who's more afraid of fires than guns (humans can be manipulated sometimes; fires don't listen to anyone) so if a fire alarm goes off, I'm the one heading for the exit. When I was a young child cousins of mine all died in a house fire, and we also had two fires in our neighborhood— one was the house next

A science fail: the bullets the people shot into the air should be coming down with almost as much velocity as they had going up initially. Some of the energy is sapped from air friction (although bullets are designed to minimize that) but other than that conservation of energy requires as much. The bullets should

The one complaint I have with linking a racist white enclave and guns and Vulcan is that there are plenty of guns and gun violence in the inner cities too. Why would Vulcan, who only cares about having worshipers and blood sacrifices, not want to tap into that as well?

The moment you get a look at the town you know Vulcan is not a good guy.

At that time distance they wouldn't be "native Americans" anyway: they were native Siberians.

Did they have to get permission for, well whatever network, for Lucy's appearance?

A bit of a discontinuity blooper:
Murphy and Monty are out to get the machine at night. Monty collapses and it's still night. But when Murphy shows up with the machine it's day. And we know that there was only ninety minutes of action in the entire episode (in show time) other than the very end..

If the colony has been operating for 100 years these would not be the prisoners but their descendants. It's hard to guess how things would have evolved in such a place after contact with Earth was lost (which per someone's note above happened even before the original nuclear war). It might have become some sort of

Also, who would be the child's father? Other than Niyala there's no hint that Clark has been sleeping with anyone else. I doubt this is Virgin Birth 2.0.

Clark mentioned that there was one spot of greenery left, though how that came to be is a bit of a mystery. And shouldn't Clark have had radio contact with the bunker once the disruptions in the atmosphere caused by Praimfaya were over?

Re: That being said, a heavily Egyptian casino in Indiana doesn't make much sense to me.

Realistically, I would also doubt they would bother doing an autopsy on someone like Laura whose cause of death was perfectly obvious. Autopsies are more deaths where there is some doubt or question. (Though I think there is a legal requirement to test body fluids of auto accident victims for alcohol and drugs).
