You should 100% call that out. Hell, I’m seeing $4,100 off of 2017 GTI’s as they sit on the lot. And $2,000 off of brand new Mazda3's. And if you MUST have diesel, then $3,000 off of a Chevrolet Cruze LT diesel.

Many of the dealers near me are only at 2-3k below MSRP on the TDIs. Just a terrible deal.
So, you bought a 3 year old (I realize it is a “new” 3 year old) TDI for only $5k less than sticker? That is some bullshit. I bought a brand new 2012 GLI in 2012 for $4k under sticker price at 0% AND that was before VW’s name had been dragged through the mud with Diesel-Gate.
Not trying to be an a-hole, but a 5k discount (if I read that correctly) on a 2 year old but zero mileage car doesn’t seem like a super deal. I would have thought they’d be a lot cheaper.
I would’ve expected a deeper discount, even without the cheating scandal. A 2-year-old VW that originally sold for $27k? I’d guess a fair price would be around $14k, diesel or not.
I still say you all are crazy for paying that much. A gas GSW, brand new, is about $20k after incentives. The two year old diesels should have been $15k tops.
Sorry but a sports car (or “drivers” car) should have a manual. I know they need to offer an automatic for sales, but it should still have a manual for the people who don’t make excuses.
You compared a non-ugly car to another non-ugly car, so while you may be wrong, at least you’re consistent.
They’re getting closer and closer to going full LEGO.
Yeah, I think the majority of Jalops are hitting the Pipe themselves today. There’s no way you could do this nice a resto for $35k; it’s a nicely appointed driver.
It’s a pretty nice restomod. Someone probably saved a borderline car from the crusher, because an original car wouldn’t have any trouble drawing this kind of money so there has to be a reason why it’s been modified.
For 10k you get an ugly 90-hp NA 4-cylinder early 80s hatchback with a horrible interior, black rubber battering rams, no cred or interesting connections, and will be mistaken for workaday Toyotas. Who cares about special edition? If this turd appreciates, I’ll be stunned.
I always figured that one’s for the people who are too cheap to get high-octane gas even though they have a high-compression engine that actually needs it.
Back in the day, it was pretty much a dime separating each of the fuel grades. 1.97, 2.07 and 2.17. Now, nothing makes sense anymore.
One of the first rules of design school is if you’re going to do something intentionally different, make it different enough to look intentional and not like a mistake.
It’s a beautiful car, but I couldn’t spend that much for a 34 year old car with that many miles. The thought of how much parts would cost makes me cringe.
I feel like big brakes are also part of the reason why 15in wheels are out. It’s hard to fit any modern brakes under a 15in wheel unless it’s an economy car.
I really don’t understand why more people who are in the 2-3 year trade cycle don’t just lease.
It’s never too hot for poutine.
Yes, but here’s the important question: Did you have any poutine in Montreal?
