Just a casual reminder that this is Turn 9 of the Baku street circuit.

CP there is no such thing as a cool Wagon.

Yeah, that’s what I think too. Also, I think a big part of the reason you can’t get a decent running car for under a grand is simple inflation. $1000 is less money in relative terms than it was 5, 10, 15 years ago.

This is boring and slow and has a slushbox. But! It’s in amazing condition and it runs for under $2k.

How it feels as a rotary guy on this site:

Two-stroke engines have been doing that since the 1880's.

Under the truism of the plural of anecdote is data, I have bought two cars in the last three years (one just last weekend) and in both cases, the lightly used car was at most $2k less than a new one. These were basic cars (Accent and Mazda3) so maybe the trim level wasn’t exactly the same, but close.

He ends his comment with usually the smarter buy is new. I’m saying not for luxury. Usually the smarter buy is used in luxury. So I would say almost always buy used lux.

They are rare enough here in the southeast it seems. The good news the demand for manuals is low so you don’t usually see them priced higher than AW4 XJs when they come up. It took a month or so to track mine down back in the day.

A great example of an exception to the “never buy new” rule is the Subaru WRX. At least in my area they don’t depreciate very fast, and almost everyone who buys one does so with the express intention of driving it pretty damn hard. Quick craigslist search shows asking prices for one to two year old models around

The accurate statement is:

Miata Is Always The Answer, as long as you already own an XJ.

.

Jalop A/F, coupe, hatch, 4x4, crossover, wagon, AWD, economic car/truck

You’re right! The numbers above clearly indicate that it is much better.

Yeah it’s mostly that second paragraph. That and considering there aren’t very many opportunities to hit that 9k redline when most of your time is cursing the hellspawn traffic, I just couldn’t deal with it. As a track only car I think a rotary is awesome though since it’s quirks are pretty much no different than what

Counter-Point: Rotary Engines are cool, because the RX-7 FD is cool (this is a fact, not an opinion) and it had a rotary (also a fact). Cool by association.

All of this is true, HOWEVER, it was so small and low to the ground that my RX-8 handled like it was on GODDAMN RAILS. And it sounded like a jet engine.

Classic Clickbait.

$16.5 is a bit high for this, methinks. At $8 - 9K I’d be a buyer.
