As someone that's been following the development of this for 4+ years and a mod on their forums I'll answer these:

With the almost hundreds of games that have been in the bundles this is not feasible, people would hate the spam. You should instead check the humble twitter account @Humble or their support twitter account @Humblesupport for all such updates.
Gawker gets their revenue from ads. Ad companies pay gawker for putting ads on the site, and for the most part gawker gets paid per exposure. That is to say, the more people load a gawker article, the more times the ad gets loaded and per their agreements with the ad agencies, the more money gawker gets.

@anabbeynormality: you're correct in that wolfire is legally protected. They explicitly did not include the assets under the GPL. This means the guy is only legally allowed to modify and sell the source-code. Not any graphics, sounds, logos, etc. What he is doing is illegal, period.
