What even are the rules of this “world’s most boring game of paintball”? After the kid shoots Baby Yoda, the round is stopped. But then when Baby Yoda shoots the kid he’s allowed to fire all three rounds and is the winner?

It also doesn’t help that the more we see of the Mandalorians, the more inept they appear. Watching them clumsily climb the mountain or move some branches just looks silly. I’m starting to wonder if this is all just a callback to the OT’s Boba Fett where he looks cool but when push comes to shove he’s actually pretty

I don’t know if there’s any franchise that I WANT to see work as much as I do Alien. It’s a shame that the more recent films just haven’t delivered.

My guess is that each will take place in a new environment, kind of like the Planet Earth documentaries. So maybe next time we get some desert Avatars, and then we get some mountain Avatars, and then some snow Avatars. But I have no idea how they will keep the “human military is after Jake Sully again” story going.

Exactly. It’s such a great theater experience that I’m not at all surprised it has made so much money.

Went to see Avatar last week, and wow does it look incredible in 3D. I’m glad I finally made the trip to the theater because the movie itself was just ok and watching it at home wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun.

What’s the MCU?

I think that Bo leaving her helmet on when she was back on her ship seemed out of character and was kind of a lazy way to get her back into the cult.

Exactly. Everything in this episode would have been fine (if a bit boring honestly) if there would have been some sort of stinger at the end. Even something as simple as Elia Kane getting a call and saying, “I have it in my possession and the Dr. has been taken care of” would have been enough to help clear up her

And now we know what Andor would be like if it were made by the same people who did Book of Boba Fett

The show worked when it was an alternate history/space race show. The 3rd season is technically set in the 2000's, I think, but the technology is beyond what exists today so the show has just become generic sci-fi with an unrealistic amount of nepotism. Kudos to the show for actually killing characters off from time

For All Mankind was much better in seasons 1 and 2 than the soap opera that was season 3. I’ll probably quit on it if season 4 is more like season 3, which I expect it will be unfortunately.

The finale was great and I love the ambiguous ending (I thought for sure Joel was going to die but this was so much better), but now I totally understand what you meant in our conversation last week about how having more infected would up the stakes of his decision.

I know the show didn’t go this route, but I think it would be interesting if Ellie actually did consent but then Joel rescued her without knowing that it was her choice. Ellie would know that Joel was lying to her as soon as she woke up, then would have to decide whether to tell him that she knows he is lying or just

It’s a lot like these “will win vs should win” videos that the AV Club keeps posting this week. I think Cate Blanchett had the best pure performance this year (even though I didn’t much care for Tar) but if I was voting I would vote for Michelle Yeoh to win because she also did great but in a movie I actually enjoyed.

From an outsider’s perspective, this entire merger seems like a disaster in the making. HBO Max currently has clearly the best streaming content of anyone and they want to add a bunch of rubbish reality TV from the Discovery channel and then prioritize the offerings from D+? Bonkers.

I’m still hoping we get to see Joel tape a scissors to a baseball bat!

It’s hard to tell if the Elvis kid (Austin Butler) even did a good job with the part because you never see him for more than 3 seconds at a time. Luhrmann has so many cuts in the film...

Cuarón absolutely should have won for ‘Children of Men’. It’s a perfect film.

Seems like there’s at least one biopic nominated each year, regardless of quality. This year we get “Elvis’ which in my opinion is borderline unwatchable.
