It’s a lot like these “will win vs should win” videos that the AV Club keeps posting this week. I think Cate Blanchett had the best pure performance this year (even though I didn’t much care for Tar) but if I was voting I would vote for Michelle Yeoh to win because she also did great but in a movie I actually enjoyed.

From an outsider’s perspective, this entire merger seems like a disaster in the making. HBO Max currently has clearly the best streaming content of anyone and they want to add a bunch of rubbish reality TV from the Discovery channel and then prioritize the offerings from D+? Bonkers.

I’m still hoping we get to see Joel tape a scissors to a baseball bat!

It’s hard to tell if the Elvis kid (Austin Butler) even did a good job with the part because you never see him for more than 3 seconds at a time. Luhrmann has so many cuts in the film...

Cuarón absolutely should have won for ‘Children of Men’. It’s a perfect film.

Seems like there’s at least one biopic nominated each year, regardless of quality. This year we get “Elvis’ which in my opinion is borderline unwatchable.

Honest question: what’s so bad about Gladiator? It’s well acted, looks good, has a villain that you grow to hate, and an emotional ending. My biggest issue with it are the icky low framerate bits that get used a few times.

I just went to my first midnight showing of The Room a few weeks ago (I knew a lot about the film but had never actually watched it before) and it was a blast! That said, I don’t need to go see it again.

Get the armor for next time!

The Mythosaur pulling him under was my first thought too, but it seemed like it wasn’t paying any attention to him on the way back up. And that Mythosaur was huge, seems like it wouldn’t have been able to get that close to shore without breaching the surface. I’m sure we’ll find out next week...

A much better episode than week 1! And everything looked pretty great too, especially the flight down to the Mandalore surface and the cyborg eyeball creature.

As far as “zombies” are concerned, I think that a Cordyceps fungus is actually relatively realistic as it’s based on something that actually happens today in other species.

I read ‘Wool’ and was a little disappointed. The first chapter (which was originally just a short story on it’s own I believe) was fantastic, but the rest of the story didn’t measure up for me. Are the second and third book more of the same or do they take the story in a new direction?

Now you’ve really piqued my curiosity. I only played through the first half or so of the game a few years ago (too stressful) so I don’t know where the story is headed at all anymore. I think the series could have used another episode or two (if nothing else just because I enjoy watching it and want more) and I do

That’s a good catch. I missed that that “deer” was actually code for people. And that’s probably why David dragged the deer that Ellie killed into the dining area, he wanted to show any skeptical followers that they actually had venison.

I read a game/show comparison article and I agree, I do think the game handled this part of the story better. But I only partly agree that the show needs more infected. On one hand, yes, the lack of infected do allow you to forget why Joel and Ellie are even travelling together. Watching them bond is great, but there

I think the space alligator scene could have been cool and fun if it was shot better. Instead, what we got was a bunch of Mandalorians basically just standing on the beach ineffectively shooting at the thing. Why were they even fighting it at all when they could have just retreated into the cave behind them? We

After further review, you are correct.

They did such a good job building a sense of dread in this episode. We already know what’s going to happen so I spent half the episode looking in the background for any sign of movement from that Clicker.

Odenkirk and the Better Call Saul cast get robbed once again. And Stranger Things winning over Andor for Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, really?
