OK.
I’ve read some of the other comments, and while I understand the negative ones, and indeed, this is a high price, if I take into account that this one runs, and has much of the work done on it that I’d need to do if I purchased one many thousands of dollars cheaper, this is a nice price for me, because: I want one.

Oh and holy cow, if you click through, the seller really HAS done a ton of work. Real work, not just “oil has been changed and new Hankooks”.

They should’ve extolled the fact that they had a great carry on plan. Imagine a commercial with oversized bags singing “Take on me. Take me on” with the company logo appearing center screen.

NOT the Pagoda (which is the MB in the other photos). I think it’s a 300sl, circa ~ ‘57. Wouldn’t throw it out of the garage either, but the 280 is the real deal, IMO the epitome of the breed.

The hippies may have all been roaming around the US in VW vans (what other choice did they have?), but in Europe they had a LOT more choices. I am sure some Euro Bohos were driving around France sucking on Galoises while driving these bad boys:

My family owed a 1973 450 SE in the mid-80's. My dad, a school teacher, had wanted nothing more than to own a Mercedes. Unfortunately he had to settle for a car my mom eventually dubbed “Hitler’s Revenge”. I dare say the repair bills from the 2 years we owned that car caused my dad to retire a full decade later than

Why didn’t they call it Hipp-E”?

I truly don’t understand the hate, here. Is it just the name? Because the rest of it sounds awesome and I wish more companies would produce something like this for people.

These are not slow, people are just spoiled today. These were among the fastest sedans you could buy at the time. My ‘79 300TD non-turbo diesel was slow. But it would still do 85mph all day long, which is certainly fast enough.

As a photographer, the header photo isn’t terrible. It’s not great either. I’d say it’s generally.... fine, if a bit underexposed. At a photo either pre-dawn or edging past dusk, it’s to be expected they are going for an understated look. Maybe a 1/3 of a stop more exposure on her, but the more I look at it, the more

It’s not unusual for people who grew up in socialist countries (esp. Eastern Europe) to lean towards the right-wing politically. I’m sure Russian coal-baron Gennady Ayvazyan worked very hard. His partner in the coal business is Iskander Kakhramonovich Makhmudov, who should be familiar as one of Russia’s top

That’s stupid. If a thief sees you paying for goods and opening doors with your arm, then all they need to do is stand next to you for 5 minutes with a fake transmitter and they’ll be able to swipe a copy of all of your keys and data.

The transmission is an automatic (pun intended) $10K discount vs. a 6-speed car.  I believe that’s having an impact here.

Regardless of whether 911s are overvalued or not, this seems low priced and fishy. Stock 2001 Turbos are going for $69k (nice) based on a couple quick dealer listings found. Why is this being sold for nearly $15k less than what dealers want for stock? Do these, seemingly quality, mods lower the value that much? Is

If I’m joining the Porsche family I’d rather spend my money on a stock car that I can get serviced more widely – even if it’s not as fast. I mean, I’m going to stuff that back end into a median eventually, anyway.

If you attended grade school in RI a “pizza and coke” party was the highlight of the school year. Boxes of cold strips of bread and tomato sauce with cans of coca cola to wash it all down. Ahhhh.....

That headline made me think that they’d exploded in someone’s face or something. Or like their dog at them and died from 70 year old card poison.

And:

That picture for Neapolitan style looks nothing like what is described in the text below it.

5. Cutting things in your hand instead of on a cutting board. “Never aim a knife at your body.”

4. Using dull knives. You use too much force on the food that might not fare well from it and you are more likely to slip.

3. Using lid while frying. That traps the steam so you’re steaming the food, not frying.

2. Not
