absolutely, and I’m glad you emphasize that both (=all) sides of politics are perfectly capable of being just as corrosive as one another.
That’s a reasonable response, however imo Marvel likes to have it both ways - they’ll shoehorn some high-minded ideas into their plots, but they’ll also make damn sure there’s plenty of righteous blood and explosions. And I have watched enough Superhero films that end with the hero using force to achieve his end, it…
oh I’m not surprised.
You don’t speak for all of comic fandom, you are one voice, and I would be very surprised if you had any idea as to the political leanings of other ‘comic fans’ outside your own circle of friends and those who choose to be vocal on social media.
Evidently people are pining for escapism, and in typical American style that escapism takes the form of blunt fantasies focused on freedom-through-violence/strength.
“Masculinity and other Hate Crimes...” was probably the biggest laugh for me
Honestly this was such a great review for a very complex episode of BCS; much respect to you Donna for this one, and I’m sure I’ve said that before ...
wow, thank you, really appreciate your encouragement :-)
I’ve taken a course for the past 3 years (not continuously!) and its had pretty dramatic effects, more so than probably any other medication I’ve ever taken.
hmm, interesting, I’m on Champix at the moment and it reeeeally fucks with your moods; I had a friend who was has a few mental health issues and she was advised not to take Champix ..
I agree; Nacho is roughly analogous to Breaking Bad’s Jesse Pinkman in some respects, and Michael Mando has done great work during his time on BCS. My only complaint relating to the excellent 3rd season was that Mando was a little underused.
‘OMGWhizzBoyOMG, whose fascistic tendencies, while amusing set against his colorful aesthetic, resound as wholly unbelievable in actual life.’
Last Man on Earth was one of the great wasted premises; two or three episodes into the first season and I was still thinkin’ the program showed great potential.
waddaya need, a road map?
Muriel’s Wedding
Oh wow - Nostalgia Flood; *I* had that one as a kid a loooooong time ago!
Hairy McLary (from Donaldson’s dairy), too; has a whole lot o’ dogs with conveniently rhyming characteristics which I can still reel off without too much thought. The cutest of which is undoubtedly Schnitzel Von Krumm with the very low tum.
Where’s the Green Sheep?
There are Gruffalos of one sort or another in quite a few of the Donaldson/Scheffler books, probably the majority ... not the latest though, my daughter and I pored over ‘The Ugly Five’ for what seemed like an hour before I googled to confirm that it didn’t make an appearance...
