As a person who hits the cap, I think it’s absolutely ridiculous there’s a cap. Either remove the cap entirely or put a net asset limit on those who can receive social security.

Yeah... the problem with that is, when your investments don’t pan out or the market tanks or whatever the case may be, you’ll have your hand out looking to the government provide you welfare.

The only side effect I got from drinking regularly was weight gain.

My point is, it’s silly to say “I think opiates are not safe, I’m going to drink alcohol instead.” That’s basically replacing one drug with the other, except that the first drug is prescribed and regulated by the doctor and can be traced to determine if there are interactions. Whereas, if you self-medicate, then

So... getting addicted to alcohol is better?

In fact, it is. You can have a placebo effect that makes you feel either that a fake drug worked, or that a real drug didn’t. It’s called the “Nocebo effect.”

I have pressure urticaria that is well controlled by Zyrtec, but without my allergy medication, drinking alcohol or opiates (prescribed for kidney stones a while back) really set it off to the point where I’ll just start itching for no reason and then I scratch the itch, then I get a welt that’s even more itchy.

Alcohol is a histamine, so it will increase allergic reactions, not decrease.

So... don’t take one potentially addictive drug, but replace with another? That makes absolutely no sense.

Did you ever think that you might be having a placebo reaction? Because Tylenol works quite well for hundreds of millions of people when taken in the correct dosages.

Differentiate, yes. However, apparently it makes no difference in game play.

While humans can perceive more than 60 Hz, it apparently makes no difference in game play.

Again, look to what I said. If you’re the child, have YOU paid taxes on that money? No. That is “income” to you and therefore you must pay taxes on it.

No, it’s not disproportionate because they MAKE THE MONEY. So, if you’re making a lot of money, you pay the taxes. Is that somehow unclear?

Corporate and tax attorney here:

Because if YOU’RE inheriting the money then YOU have not been taxed on it. Money does not pay tax, individuals do.

Yeah... they actually do. You might want to look up the definition of “income.” When something of value transfers from one person to another, absent an exemption, that transfer is taxable. Did a descendent earn that money and were they already taxed on it? No? So... then they should pay tax on it.

No, Presidents are literally charged with enforcement, heading the military and foreign affairs. That’s pretty much their powers under Art. II.

You’ve basically summed up Keynesian economics. If you give those people who will spend money, they will increase demand which grows the economy.

Point of clarification, Obama (and every other president) enacted NOTHING. They are executives, charged with enforcement and only have the power of the veto.
