In case it hasn't been pointed out already, Cameron didn't create Ripley and Alien 3 didn't use his two (short lived) survivors from Aliens. His creations weren't messed with, just eliminated. And I still think Alien 3 is the most emotionally stirring - if broke backed - of the four pack.

Try The Wind (also with Gish). Saw it with a full orchestra backing and stretches of it had the crowd screaming and jumping in their seats. Tense and terrific.
