Most new mercedes have the option to debadge

Completely agreed. But people whan to brag even with what they dont have

If this became an option in the US, they’d probably charge you extra even though it’s saving them a few bucks.

IIRC I think TG did a show on this or perhaps James May on Cars of the People. USA and GB are most notorious for adding or noticing badges to DDM’s point (middle managers, etc.) The “Continentals” may actually be more vain by eliminating the badges altogether. In hindsight, a car sans badge looks better generally,

By the way, debadging is an option when you order the car.

I thought it had to do with people with higher-end models not wanting their cars to end up in the Eastern-Bloc.

Porsche does this in the US. For free. PORSCHE / FREE, that’s two words you almost never see together.

What’s the point of car badges, though? Some cars need to be de-badge so hard (it’s a stock X5 M 50d version badge, X6 has the similar one):

The US Mini Configurator does have debadging as a no charge option. Might be the only US sold car that has this as an actual option?

Indeed, indeed. On some luxury cars in the US it is too, but very few. Also virtually no Americans EVER order their cars, which Europeans may find unusual. We like instant gratification :)

Interesting. So this is the actual answer to the question. Well done!

Yup! And even separate options to remove model designation and ‘line’ designation from your 316d Touring Sport Line (brown, manual, with sports suspension):

I’ve found it really depends on the car. Sometimes without the badge it looks really weird. Too much blank space if you will. This is especially bad if they take off the all the brand badges too (ie: the chevy bowtie or the ford oval)

Debadging in the U.S. is something that’s typically handled between you and the dealer you are buying the car from, or between you and a heat gun with some dental floss.

No fair, they didn’t test the Mustang in real-world conditions.

It’s the definition of a love/hate relationship. Some say it’s the best rally on the calendar, but the spectators and organizers are sometimes taking too many chances..

Portuguese cobblestone, the bane of any would be boy racer.

the consistently worst/most boring segment on the show. every week. every season.

Oh. So they’re still doing that.
