I’m not talking about rental go-karts. Besides, 90% of rental karts are actually indoor electric these days.

I’m talking about the motorsport of kart racing that represents the grassroots feeder for basically all of motorsports. The vast majority of drivers in professional motorsport, from Formula 1 to NASCAR, got

The only people who couldn’t use batteries, are those who camp in the hot desert, and use air conditioning a lot.  Which, to be fair, covers many recreational use cases in California.

The legislation is poorly constructed.

I’ve gone Go Karting several times. And I’m 100% for getting rid of the shitty polluting gas engines Karts typically use.

As one who just did a big family Out West camping trailer trip this summer: RV’s are the only socially-distant travel method left. I’m not a fan of emptying the black tank, but it meant we didn’t have to use rest area bathrooms, or deal with random hotels.

Yep....RV manufacturers are going to put a gas and a diesel fuel tank on an RV to power a diesel generator. Diesel powered RV’s will die a slow death as the US government is toxic to diesel anything.

It’s not boneheaded because you don’t understand.

This is also going to have a big impact on kart racing in California.

The bill goes up to 25hp because they thought that the existing CARB rules for motorcycles and ATVs would cover every recreational small-motor vehicle, and those are all in the 25+ hp category.

Unfortunately, just about every class of kart that is run

I just bought a leaf blower this weekend.

The California Air Resources Board says that the average 3.5 hp generator running at a 1.8kW load for 1 hour emits as much pollution as driving a car about 150 miles. It’s not surprising that the state wants to eliminate sales of small engines like the ones used in lawnmowers and generators.

OK, so here’s a question for you then. If you go camping with your F150 hybrid with the 7.2 kW built in generator, does that count too?

If it lasted until 2018, I’d be a lot fatter.

In most larger organizations, the fixed costs are rising, so middle managers have been asked to make across the board cuts, usually at a flat percentage of fiscal year budget, and figure out how to make them work. This is an attempt to control product costs, and contain them in whatever envelope of expected outlays

Unreliable power grid with rolling blackouts + ban on generators...... how very Californian of them.....

Eh, I use plenty of air-cooled diesel powered generators and air compressors in the past for work. Wouldn’t have to go that large.

This is only a ban on the sale of new gas engines within the state. Those of you who absolutely must run your AC, microwave, 65" TV, etc, while (allegedly) boondocking can continue to do so with your existing generators. Used generators will continue to be available, and nothing prevents you from picking up a new one

So buy mailorder from a state that does allow the sale and have them shipped in.

2018? Oh, sweet child! The McDonald’s apple pie was dead long before that. The OG McDonald’s apple pie was deep fried, and yes, it was as good as it sounds.

Wendy’s. Jalapeno. Double. Melt.

Needs to be permanent.

I will endorse the McD fries in beef tallow.
