I saw the second show, knowing nothing about the first. Honestly, I was really surprised at the lack of Paranoid Android—what I would consider maybe the most “must play” selection in their catalog—along with There There. Checked the setlists after the show, and realized everything I was missing at my show was played

Yeah, it’s made treadmill time even somewhat enjoyable—having it OnDemand is great. And very Morrison inspired, definitely—Emma Frost, Beast’s design, etc.

I’m not much of an anime guy really, but I don’t mind the anime/Japanese stylings of that series. I see it more as an X-Men remix or something.

Yeah, the cartoon came out just as I was starting to lose interest in the comics.  I was pretty possessive of the franchise in the late 80's, but starting “aging out” of them by ‘92 or ‘93.  I was happy there was a series, but by that point it seemed way too kiddie for me, and the Batman series showed how much better

Have you seen the X-Men anime series?  I’m watching it now--makes a perfect accompaniment to a quick jog on the treadmill--and it’s better than I would have predicted.  It’s a nice mix of classic and Grant Morrison elements, apparently “guided by” Warren Ellis.

I haven’t seen this in awhile, but I loved it at the time.  Any parody of comics/superheroes was right up my alley.  Also, I remember thinking the costumes and general aesthetic would have been perfect for a Watchmen movie.  In hindsight, considering what we got with the ACTUAL Watchmen movie, I think I was right.

In general I tend to like Reznor, but this just seems silly. Yeah, NIN embraced a lot of hi-tech production for their shows. I don’t think that gives them a patent on the idea. As the technology became available, people were going to start using it. If he had a real case here, then U2's Zoo TV tour is probably due roya

Yeah, there’s a part of me that wishes I’d stood in line for the tickets, but that just seems like so much work these days. Besides, I saw them on their “farewell” tour a few years back in the same venue. That was so perfect, it almost seems futile to try to see them again.

When I saw NIN maybe 10 years or so ago, during their “Lights in the SKy” tour (actually the Lollapalooza stop), they did have a very impressive translucent screen that would position itself at the edge of the stage. So you could see the band playing at times, and other times they would be obscured by the screen

Oh, definitely. Actually, it was your post that made me realize that it kind of WAS Dark Side, only stretched out with other material.  I had almost been thinking of it as his 2/3 of Animals tour.

I’ve seen a few of these now: U2 doing Joshua Tree, Peter Gabriel doing So, Roger Waters doing Dark Side, then the Wall. On the one hand, yes, playing things in order does take the surprise out of it. On the other hand, in most cases I’m too hooked as a fan of those acts to NOT go to one of those shows, and I do like

Venom was cool for a few brief months, when he was just a creepy Spider-Man doppelganger that would crack an unnerving smile in his face. (I always thought the concept seemed like a version of the “Kraven as Spidey” bit from Kraven’s Last Hunt, where there was a mysterious, evil, bulkier guy in the Spidey suit.)  As

I suppose so.  I would be fine with that as the resolution to the show, though.  I’ve enjoyed the ride well enough so far, but can’t say I’m dying to see what happens next, due to the lack of compelling characters and constant rug-pulling the show insists on every 5 minutes.  At this point, it feels like very

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an episode seem more like a series finale, without actually being one, than this.  Honestly, I’m kind of disappointed to realize this will come back next season.  I really feel like they’ve done everything they really can with the premise, with more than enough head-fuckery.  There really

I’ll admit I’ve never seen Blade, at least not all the way through. But I feel like I’ve seen this idea posited before, and I feel like it’s really only due to a technicality (that it was a Marvel property) that says it “paved the way” for the Marvel’s superhero movies in the next millennium. I was a comic book nerd

Oh my god, this would be the absolute best.

Well, I mean, they could just insert a “who” in the title, if they wanted to axe Romano: “Everybody Who Loves Raymond”.

Indeed. I remember a conversation I had with a girl I knew, where I mentioned something about my gf getting me a graphic novel for my birthday. Her response was literally to the effect of “she would never be with someone who was into that.” The same person spoke enthusiastically about how good the Dark Knight movie

I thought it was more a comment on how the perception of comic book nerds was that they were unfuckable, whereas now that really isn’t the case. Which seems fine. I still am fairly amazed that what seemed to carry such a social stigma when I was younger is now the basis for movies hugely popular for everyone, women

At least we got Kristen Schal’s karaoke scene this season. I had tears from laughing so hard.
