Well, to a point. My 2000 Ford Taurus has lived through my transition from uncaring owner in college who only cared about the people-hauling characteristics of his car to a Jalopnik-obsessed car nerd. And after several years of basically mistreating it ('maintenance', what is this thing you speak of?) this year was

Unfortunately, I did. One of my favourite cars of all time, yet approximately zero chance I ever could own one...and at that price, I doubt I would even if I could. Still one of the most exquisite designs ever penned...

I don't know, I'm torn between an affordable MGB, light with a four-pot, and an (almost as) affordable Jaguar V12 XJS...

Ah, cool, a Hampden-Sydney man, I presume? I interviewed there and really liked it, but ended up going to Washington & Lee up in Lexington. Central/Southwestern Virginia's some of the best country driving around, as long as you follow the speed limit...

My brothers and I were given a brand-new soft-top Jeep Wrangler X when I was 16. It's now on its fourth caretaker (we don't take it off to college, but leave it for the next high-school brother.) Never been rolled, no really serious accidents, although it's seen plenty of hard use and good fun...

Cool story. Beautiful car. Whereabouts in 'nowhere Virginia' did you go?

YES. I'd be very curious—my current estimates are that a Jaguar XJS or better yet XK will show up on the list...

My commute in Shanghai had me riding Line 4 and (the even-more-packed) Line 2 on a daily basis. As a 6' 2" Westerner with a heavy backpack, I used to think I could take my feet off the floor and stay suspended in midair, the cars were so crowded. I'm not sure I had a single seat in months of daily subway use. And even

I-29 is by far the more comfortable route, but 501 isn't a shabby country drive, although the number of small towns and strict 55MPH speedlimit does rather limit the cruising.

I'd never really cared about racing until very lately, and I'm still in no hurry to get on the track (mostly due to competition for money and time) but it is photos like this that make me want to race...

Point. I'm not into tracking my cars (yet) and I do love convertibles, so it'd be a no-brainer, save for the economic angle...

Aww, you passed up a F-Type for a Fiesta? Must be a pretty awesome car...I know which one I would have taken, in a heartbeat!

This is easy. A Ferrari 250 SWB California roadster or an Aston Martin DB5. Or a S1 Jaguar E-Type. In black/silver/BRG, respectively. If one has the money, let them enjoy it.

Somehow, I can't find it on the site. Was this discontinued? I just heard about it today!

NOOOO! That's hideous...

I've lived on three continents and used (and enjoyed) public transit on a daily basis. The London Underground and bus system is fantastic. Taxis in Shanghai are great, and the subway's decent even if seemingly always crowded. I've wandered Europe on public transit happily—traversing 10,000 surface miles in one

(channels Luke Skywalker)...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. (bow)

Hideous, yes, but at least it wasn't something rarer and more precious ruined.

I'm considering getting a MGB or a Spitfire right now, and my dream car is an E-Type. Am I crazy? Probably.
