I think they were trying to go after the Range Rover, and similar vehicles...something distinctly different from a true station wagon.

Beyond beautiful. Although I'm partial to BRG on the big Jags. Can't imagine driving something that spectacular daily, although I'd someday love to have a XK120 or an E-Type and try...
How did Ticker not make your toplist? Excellent driving, suspense, danger, and a heart-touching end, to boot. (no pun intended). For the cinema environment it came out in (The Bourne Identity came out in 2002) it was brilliant.
Fascinating story. I wasn't really familiar with it, being far more obsessed with the Jaguar wins of years earlier in those splendid E-Types, but this made me want to catch up on my reading on the GT40, and look up some more of the stories referenced. Thanks for posting!
XK120? Very, very nice. I've inherited many fantastic heirlooms from relatives who properly valued the past, but never a piece of vehicular art like that...
A pretty nice lineup, but I've got to say, for me that D-Type steals the show. Would have liked more photos of the Rolls, too, though—that one with the bonnet open doesn't seem to do it justice.
Red? Scarcely. British Racing Green is the perfect car colour. I mean, it has to be. It looks good in sunlight. It looks good in shade. Looks good with black top/interior, or tan (the best), or white. It looks good on a range of vehicles: Jaguar C-Type on, Aston Martin Vanquish and DBS, the Range Rover, and Triumph…
Yup. Copper panels. I've heard the idea is that they will patina nicely over the life of the vehicle. Don't know if I buy that, but they're certainly interesting in the freshly-minted state.
How I wish. Considering a classic Spitfire is one of my dream projects...would be a treat. Nearly bought one in good project condition a few months ago, despite no place to work on it currently.
'Course, figuring on the original build quality of a Spitfire...sobriety would probably be extra.
