Yes. If someone else had replied with the shoe thing, it would be a case where a comment has 3x the votes of the original post. But the author deprived us of this pleasure by posting it himself.

2025?! That’s a lot of effort Ralph for an automobile that’s 1 to 2 new President’s away.

As others noted, knock $7.5k to $10k for gov subsidies. In addition, smartphones are a better analogy. Take the BMW i3. The 2016 got about 80 miles. The 2017 gets around 120-140 miles and the 18 is rumored at around 180 miles (range) So that’s a lot of innovation (and real world useful innovation) that’s going to

I rented one last summer and drove it from NC to MA and back. I was really disappointed. Gas mileage was good at 30 or so average. But seat super uncomfortable, cheapish plastics. Was expecting much better.

There is something disconcerting about those who just wave these issues of so nonchalantly.

So this is what Death by Cornbread actually feels like....

The most impressive piece is the driver of the Mini. What needs to happen in his life to actually make him run?

Don’t ever blame the victim. Never ends well.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the guy didn’t just accidentally find a year old picture. I suspect this wasn’t the first time.

Wait. The guy who is a host of a car show is ignorant about the fastest growing segment of his industry and we just embrace it? “Have at it!” That’s pretty blind fan boi. If he said something ignorant about healthcare or the NFL I wouldn’t care. But this is his actual field of expertise.

At least with a GoPro you’re experiencing the sensation of being in the car/moving vs stationary on the side of the track?

Lol. I’m not sure if you’re being deliberately disingenuous but that’s not what you said at all. “about perspective. For the person who doesn’t really give a shit what powers their car, the work associated with the logistics of owning an EV rates pretty high up there on the “shit I’d rather not have to deal with”

Yeah, might be 6 - 10. Factor in exiting and re-entering traffic too.

I went from gas to electric 4 months back. I can charge in my garage. 35 mile per day commute. At 10 minutes per gasoline fill up, and 2500 miles driven, that’s 7 - 10 fills up. So, I’ve saved what, 80 to 100 minutes of my life because I no longer worry about juice at all? (I guess it takes 15 seconds to plug it in)

But he’s not really, that’s more my point. He’s describing the first day pitfalls, many of which are easily overcome. An article after a week, when he has the basics worked out, would be a lot more helpful.

Dude, you’re describing supply and demand.

I feel like this whole thing cascaded downwards and this article became “Here’s what happens if you suddenly found yourself owning an electric car and put no prior thought or research into it” Ie - if you had this car a week, or what is more likely what happens, if you did some research prior to buying an electric

You’re missing a big benefit. If you have a garage you’re never inconvenienced by having to stop for fuel. I switched to electric 3 or 4 months ago and never have to stop for any type of refueling. It’s prettu cool.

Yes. Thank goodness we only have male marshalls. No female would be this brave.

Yes!! A double negative in the headline = it’s coming back!!
