Modern NVG devices are automatically gated. You're not blinded by (and the equipment does not fail due to) street lights, aircraft strobes, search lights, muzzle flare and so on. binocular anvis mounted nvg are compatible with other eyewear and visors, which of course gets us back to laser eye protection.

You don't know what you're talking about. a laser beam is already spatially coherent (e.g. it is focused). It's the energy on the receiving end that does the damage. filters applied to particular wavelengths where lasers operate. e.g. 450 532 635 will prevent energy in those wavelengths from reaching your eyes.…
The green is 532nm and the blue is 450nm. given appropriate protection there is no danger to the pilots at those wavelengths.
