pernod stopped making it in 1915. extant bottles of the orginal recipe are markedly different (flavor wise) than todays product. pastis is meh and modern absinthe production in france only started again around 2000.
Also, st george spirits absinthe verte is both dramatically better and more authentic than pernod.
abinsinthe also goes really well with a dry champange (about one part in three), there being enough residual sugar to cut the edge of and it goes cloudy in the process. that said, it'll be a cold day in hell or ~ -10F before it'll get slushy.

Colleague at $last_job had civic NGV, I have civic hybrid. if anything the NGV gets slightly better milage and has lower emissions. If I'd lived in california back in 2007 when I was shopping for the hybrid I'd have totally considered it as it was they weren't for sale in OR.
