No, it’s not the smarter choice. It was merely the more economical choice. Teachers don’t teach because they want money. They teach because they love it. Please keep teaching and loving it. The world needs more good teachers, not more technicians.

I feel you. I come from a family of teachers, and the one thing that was drilled into me from a young age was “if you want to make money, don’t teach”. Thus I went into tech.

I stand corrected that the design of the Zebesian space pirate wasn’t shown until Super Metroid, but technically space pirates as an organisation were introduced in a 1986 CYOA book called Metroid: Zebes Invasion Order which, funnily enough, Super Metroid cribbed a lot of its story from.

Nice pun, but that’s pretty clearly a Space Pirate.

The Castlevania one seems like the biggest departure from the source material to me. Far more than swapping out Samus for Dirk the Daring in a bubble helmet. Given the time period, that seems like a pretty natural decision for the suits in charge of a production company like Dic.

For all that people are now hating on it, at least they only have 2 more episodes to go. For my part, I’m not hugely invested in it beyond ensuring it’s available for my wife to watch. That, and I can’t wait for it to end so that D&D can go back to meaning Dungeons and Dragons, and having nothing to do with another

Final Fantasy 1. My dad and I played through it with the original Nintendo Power strategy guide over the course of several weekends. I’d use my weekly allowance to rent it from the local video store, crossing my fingers every time that someone else hadn’t rented it and erased my save. Somehow we managed to play it

Water, magma, forgotten and were-beasts. These are all surmountable obstacles that can even become tools with enough planning and ingenuity. The one thing no colony of dwarfs will ever survive is time. FPS death takes us all in the end.

I’m still working on the smaller words like turgid and priapic. I’ll get there some day, I’m sure of it.

Ah, thanks.

Forgive my ignorance, but where’s the disconnect between Bautista and Batista?

Can they fix a broken heart?

Hmm, it’s reminiscent of one of my favorite PC games of yore: Depths of Dejenol (née Mordor 2). That game was made very interesting by the inclusion of something like 20 different player races and even more classes. Hopefully we see some of that variety here.

Dwarf Fortress actually has a rogue-like/dungeon crawler Adventure Mode. It’s every bit as deep as the Fortress Mode, but the controls are more esoteric.

With private servers and mod support?

So, how excited should we be? I’m not familiar with OtherSide other than seeing their only released PC game was pretty badly panned, though a recent update last month may have fixed it. Has anybody played Underworld Ascendant recently enough to speak to this developer’s quality?

So many speakers. That backstage must be larger than the auditorium.

It probably means you’re a responsible adult with important things to do with your time.
