Well, I mean, they had to be analogies of something.

Um, does anyone remember Maniac Mansion? That one.
As I told another reader, I doubt this device or (by extension) your NUC could handle 4K streaming. The processors aren’t powerful enough. That being said, it’s not just the processor. Your NAS may be powerful enough, but most consumer NASs aren’t.

No, I don’t actually have any experience with this for Plex. I’m simply going off of the posted specs on the machine and what Plex themselves say is the required hardware. That being said, I don’t think this could handle streaming 4K content. Most 4K content requires around 80Mbps transcoding bandwidth, with Plex…

For anyone curious about performance, the i7-5775R is actually a pretty strong processor. With an average Passmark score above 10K, it could easily handle transcoding on around 4 simultaneous streams with Plex. Your only issue would be storage, which you’d probably have to go networked on.

I don’t know. With the current glut of Whatever Simulator 20XX, keeping it Untitled Goose Game gives it a little uniqueness.
A WH40K Tau army could come in a Kroot box.
I’m fine. How are you?
I love that the only screenshot featuring nudity is the one that shows up on the front page. Stay classy, Kotaku.
From who’s perspective? His is probably a lot more interesting, but would wouldn’t ever be written.
You know, I don’t actually have to pick one. My dad is a video game character. Hell, he’s every g’damn down-and-out hero from every action game. An ex-marine sniper turned alcoholic mercenary with a troubled past and a string of failed marriages. Sometimes I wish I were making that up.
I’m a super-taster, and the bourbon barrel-aged beers are my favorites. Particularly those of the imperial stout variety. I haven’t yet tried the Founders Backwoods Bastard (probably because it’s a scotch ale, which I’m not opposed to, but aren’t what I reach for naturally), but my absolute favorite is Fremont…

It’s typically a garlic creme sauce.
“Shit on a shingle” is old military slang for chipped beef and gravy or cream on a piece of toast, which by most standards is vile.
Nah, it’s not the DRM. ACOrigins just does some cryptomining while you’re playing.
Well, fidget-spinners were a flash-in-the-pan phenomenon. Streaming has now been around for long enough that people are actually making careers from it and it’s more-or-less part of the public consciousness. I don’t really see it going away until the next iteration of it comes around and is even bigger.
That makes sense, but where does one even begin looking for an audience? Or do streamers just start a stream and wait to be found by one? I occasionally see threads announcing streams in some of the game subreddits I frequent, but they’re almost universally met with disdain for, what I can only assume, is adding more…
It’s a bit of a catch-22, though. You can either leave the assets uncompressed and force users to put the game on an SD card, which will load slower, or use compressed assets and force the system to decompress them on use, which will also inflate load times in addition to requiring more system memory (something that’s…
Space isn’t the only consideration, either. On-board NAND is going to be way faster than an SD card at loading. Even with a Class 10 U3 SD card (the fastest that I know of right now), on-board NAND is going to blow past it. Unfortunately, on-board space isn’t expandable like just swapping out an SD card. I guess what…
