Pfft... ! The ‘90s sfx were a miracle compared to what I grew up with in the ‘50s. It was all models, stop-motion and practical effects. This is a frame from the 1953 War Of The Worlds. The Martian ships were models hanging from strings; you could plainly see the strings in the movie.

The weirdest thing to me is that it seemed like every creature effect had the same coloration and texturing. It’s like everybody was using the same animation program (and maybe they were).

With all the talk his side has and is doing about rigging, this needs to be checked.
