Oh, I’m totally hooning your Honda Beat when it gets here now that I know your password.

Matt drives a Prius.

I don’t trust anyone that much.

162 mph was my record with me driving. It was wild and I’ll never do it again.

I was also a passenger in a 200mph twin turbo C6 Z06 that made north of 1000hp. It was mind boggling.

Again, the reason I don’t think heatsoak matters at that speed, is an issue is one of physics: More velocity means more airflow over the radiators, which means more potential cooling potential. I expect at such a ridiculous rate, there’s probably way more cooling available than what the engine could even realistically

Heatsoke can be an issue tho, the fact that the car isnt overheating doesnt mean its not getting hot.

Like, it operates at certain range, and the closer it gets the more timing it pulls, I dont know if it should be THAT much of a difference tho.

I dont know if this thing is able to hit 331mph, but I can see it reaching

Yes, on a track less than half the length of previous, from a standing start, and with thick Florida air, and people present who would expose any shenanigans.

Yeah there might be race teams or engine manufacturers who have data on that but they're not sharing trade secrets, unfortunately.

The effectiveness of engine break-in is something I’ve been curious about for years.

I wonder how many issues a proper break-in prevents in modern cars.

Fun valet game: What passwords do you try first?

Still do not understand why something like this is not offered as a password protected setting on every powerful car as a “valet mode”. Similar to the red/black keys on the Hellcats but even more restrictive. Why would a valet, entry level dealership employee, etc. ever need more than, say 100 hp?

I don’t think heatsoak is an issue at that speed (The amount of airflow through the rads is probably massive overkill, to the point I suspect the waterpump is probably slowing down to retain some heat in the heads). As for data, anyone is just guessing here, but I’m going to reverse my opinion from the previous hoopla

Because Matt is super edgy and cool, everyone.

It’s important to note that this run was independently verified by Racelogic, who was on-site, so there should be no further questions on validity (or at least they can back it all up with data).

TLDR- So this one is legit?

Hah! I left a comment back then like all the other gearheads that there was no way they blew past 300mph.

When reached for comment, the previous record holder as World’s Fastest Tuatara questioned what had been chasing it to incite such a speed.

When they say production car, does that mean they’ve made more than one?

Dr. Dick Thompson, a dentist who was known mostly for racing Corvettes, was known as “The Flying Dentist” in the 1950s and 1960s, IIRC.
