agreed. the book’s description of Salim and how dreadful his life was and how much he hated his brother (in law?) back home was a big part of why the exchange with the ifrit was so well-done. I thought they did a good job, however, of translating that for the screen.

Bast was also a very important secondary character in Gaiman’s seminal comic work, Sandman, and it’s implied that she and Morpheus either were at one time, or had the opportunity to be, lovers. In Sandman, any time someone looks at a cat and sees something regal or beautiful, Bast is enriched and can draw on that

That’s because Shadow doesn’t really have a story. At this point in the proceedings, he’s still very much a recent ex-con upon whom things are imprinted or labels applied. Even his relationship with Laura, which was his only truly defining characteristic, has turned out to be bullshit. Shadow is, quite literally at

They also have the BBC “...The Killer Years” movies, about Grand Prix and Rally, specifically, but excellent nonetheless. The Grand Prix one is insane, when you truly realize how freaking deadly that racing was (film of guys burning to death in wrecks), and then to move on to the Group B rally madness...

i would LOVE to see the entire GOP Machine brought down on a RICO charge.

My show-buddy and I, both HUGE fans of the book and Mr. Gaiman in general, noticed in this ep how they’re starting to make Wednesday’s right eye more obviously fake/glass. It certainly fits and is appropriate, and it’s just one more hint as to his actual identity, in case anyone was still confused, but it was just

In the 2nd ep, specifically, I thought that the lighting combined with his injuries really threw his origins out of balance. He looked Latino, Middle Eastern, Southwest Asian, etc.

yep.

“vaginebula” is perfect, thank you.

I think the repeated shots of the candle in the Bilquis sequence was to reinforce the ritualistic nature of what she’s doing. Notice that of all the candles in the room, there’s only one that’s repeatedly the focus and it’s always the same one.

Don’t forget, he was strong then, that whole cargo hold of people believed in him fervently!

At the end of the Bone Garden lynching, the “rope” broke and he fell to his knees, then the oceans of blood washed over him. He wasn’t hanging in the tree anymore in the final shot, instead was surrounded by the carnage on the slow zoom out.

or, you know, Portuguese Fly.

If you’re a Shakespeare geek, and a Star Wars geek, it’s actually pretty fun. I have all three of the original trilogy, don’t really see the need for the prequels, and also have the similar “Thee Two Gentlemen of Lebowski,” which is freaking hilarious. But then again, Shakespeare geek.

Um...Domino’s first appearance was in X-Factor Annual #6 (1991) and she was in the first X-Force issue as well, a member from the beginning (and shown sharing a nice, hot bath with Cable in an early issue.

I drove an ‘88 XJ Cherokee for a while that had manual everything (except transmission, for some reason). At some point, the driver’s window got so loose that you could palm it open from outside the car. Also, it was the old 2-key system (round for door locks, square for ignition). I can’t remember exactly when, but
