That’s a nice red.  Looks good on the car, though the grille is still unfortunate.

“The phrase I posted does not reflect my personal views at all,”

no it isn’t. Elon’s stans love to brag about how he’s “building electric cars” or “landing rockets,” but he’s not doing any of that. Tesla’s 40,000 employees are building electric cars, and SpaceX’s 8,000 employees are landing rockets.

yes, the Boomers I’m talking about are the ones who think re-runs of Leave it to Beaver are a documentary.

Moral of the story is that “un-American” means “thinking things should be any different than how the Boomers incorrectly remember the 1950s to be.”

It all comes down to absentee ballots and main-in voting... Although both terms are used interchangeably by the media they are not actually the same in this context.

honestly, it’s no different that star athletes.  there’s no shortage of people who would defend their team’s QB to the death.  Elon is just the “geek” Tom Brady.

yeah, when I got my truck I tried keeping all of the driver assist stuff active, but lane-keep assist just annoyed the shit out of me.  not that it was doing anything dangerous, but that it was sensitive enough to start correcting while I was still within the lane.  I do like the adaptive cruise control, though.  I’ve

Selling cars has always been a spec war. That will never change.

the Eleanor explained that she has the “constitutional right to freedom of speech”

All these good Christian people that are supposed to be such good Christian people, the last thing we’re supposed to do is to judge one another. God is the judge, not us.

I think EV advocates (fanboys too) are going to have to realize that as EV marketshare grows, people in general aren’t going to want to drive the kind of featureless blob that a car would be to completely maximize efficiency at highway speeds. There are going to be cars which trade off a bit of range in favor of

given how things are today, I’m shocked they didn’t call it “Siftr.”

it’s not incredibly sophisticated, really; there’s a planetary gearset inside of the motor armature and a clutch which couples the engine crankshaft to that gearset when it’s more efficient to do it that way:

why would that make you proud?  did you paint it or something?

Nitpick: it’s not a “jet” turbine. A jet engine moves the vehicle via thrust (blasting the exhaust out a nozzle at high velocity.) gas turbines for land vehicles are turboshaft engines, there’s a second turbine which extracts as much energy as possible from the exhaust stream to turn an output shaft.

probably for a while as long as the skins are intact to prevent freezer burn.

yeah.  honestly I’ve found the axiom that a restaurant’s quality is inversely proportional to the length of its menu to be true.

I wouldn’t say the Chrysler Turbine Car project “failed,” it just “successfully proved that gas turbines aren’t suitable for cars.”

because the reason locomotives are diesel-electric isn’t because it’s more efficient, it’s because it would be infeasible to design a mechanical transmission for the role. It would have to both be incredibly strong and have an incredible number of gear ratios to get the typical train moving and get it up to “cruise”
