This is what happened to a cop I knew in, coincidentally, NE DC. He made a stupid mistake, then lied about it, got caught in the lie, and got fired. The firing was maybe a bit severe - I’ve certainly seen cops do far, far, faaaaar worse and keep their jobs — but I get why it happened.
