When the pandemic first hit, travel dropped nearly to nothing, and the rental agencies cut their staff dramatically and sold off many of their cars. Since travel picked up, they’ve all been trying to hire and buy cars. I suspect many of these problems are due to new staff that aren’t very well trained.

She’s absolutely right. We need to reduce traffic deaths. We should reduce the maximum speed limit down to 55 mph. After all, if it only saves one life, it is worth it.

You obviously haven’t actually tried that from the Boston suburbs. Within the city of Boston, it is feasible. From most Boston suburbs, it will take at least twice as long, if not more, and is far more likely to have a delay resulting in missing your flight. And Boston is one of the US cities with a better transit

I’m sure that one of the big marine salvage companies, like Smit Salvage, has been retained and is on their way to the ship.

Walk or ride your bike to the airport, with your luggage? Really? And with a couple small children?

For some services, yes, it would work. For example, a company that mostly shuttles from the city of Boston to Logan airport, it would work fine.

I’m not sure that would work in Boston.  A driver doing repeated airport runs from the further suburbs could easily do over 300 miles per day, and there isn’t room at the airport terminals where they wait for passengers for charging points.

I do wonder whether the fleets are using the gas engine or the diesel.  If they are using the gas engine, their fuel bill must be horrendous.  They can’t be getting more than 15 mpg with the V8.

Sadly, Avis has some similar issues.

Around Boston, most of the Escalades that are see are owned by car services.

You don’t really expect accuracy from Jalopnik/Gizmodo “journalists”, do you?

Yes.

Baloney.  People may drive fast there, but there are very, very few cars going over 100 mph.

I’m a very long time commenter.  I was out of the greys for many years.  I got put back in the greys because I dared to criticize Jalopnik writers.  If you write anything that doesn’t conform with their progressive ideals, they put you into the greys.

Being mad is fine. He didn’t get arrested for being mad. He got arrested for disturbing the peace. He didn’t arrested the first time he yelled obscenities at the cops. He got arrested after the cops told him to settle down or he would get arrested.

No, he wasn’t arrested for being angry. Just being angry won’t get you arrested. He got arrested for disturbing the peace. You start yelling obscenities in public, do it loud enough and long enough, and you, too, can get yourself arrested.

1) Disturbing the peace is indeed a crime.

I’m so tempted to make a Lando Calrissian joke, but I’m guessing that’s he’s heard them all.

Frameless windows suck.

All I have to do on my Land Cruiser is pull hard on the door handle.  No motors to worry about.  You can still grab it without having to defrost it first.
