I think we should separate the lawyer from the client. When there is a witness, you get their contact information. That's a basic procedural rule in most states. The defense is going to want to know what she has to say if she's willing to talk to them. She doesn't have to talk to them, though.

@AndPreciousLittleofThat: I haven't heard anything about a conspiracy charge. But I think the defense is actually going for mitigation here. Their strategy is already in effect. It's obvious this guy sees this as a family, as messed up as it is. But if you compare this to many similar kidnappings that involve not

So from what I can gather from the sketch and the comments, this is actually a joke about the commercials for Burn Notice rather than the show.

I hate that women who aren't into other women feel like a threesome is something they "give" a guy. Do they think a guy would "give" them a threesome with another guy?

@lambsy: You know, I am right there with you. Once upon a time, I enjoyed them. Now, with my husband, I'm not really so gung ho, and I know that he's one of those few guys who really wouldn't like it, he's too monogamous.

@Awry: Yeah, I'm with you. I understand that this can be a sensitive topic and one parents handle badly. But I also don't understand how we want Michelle Obama to address childhood obesity and yet also want her to never talk about weight. Not really possible, folks.

To be fair, I don't think VF is as much to blame (except for the styling of the shoot, blech) as is Hollywood itself. Do I think Gabourey Sidibe and Freida Pinto should be on there? Sure. Do they have the resumes of the other girls? Truthfully, no. But that's Hollywood's fault. They don't get the same amount of

I get where Emily Bazelon is coming from, but I think it would be a far worse reaction were Roeder not allowed to air his views in the courtroom. Sure it may have been a place to make his views known, but it's not like his views aren't already known. The media coverage has already given Roeder more than enough of a

@SomeAuthorGirl: I think I've got to go with Andrew Young here. If only because it's been long established how much of a jackass Edwards and Hunter were and I'm just barely starting to realize that Young is just as bad as they are.

Bright side: can't imagine this would turn practically any jury in their favor. People know sleazeball tactics when they see them, and they definitely hold it against you in their verdict.

@euterpe35: I'm not a big fan of the novel, but I have to say that there's a big difference between a novel in 1952 pushing the boundaries on these issues than a movie in 2010. It's only been done in film about a million times in the last decade alone. Winterbottom needs to do a little research.

Thanks for addressing the issue. I'm 6 months post baby and I've come to terms with the fact that this weight is going to take a long time to go away. Everyone's body responds differently and you don't know until you get there how it'll go.

@shefightsback: I was thrilled, too. Until it was gone an episode or two later.

It is kind of embarrassing how relieved I am to hear it's fake. I always suspect the cover story of a tabloid is fake, but having my own baby weight that's been here for more than 6 months and doesn't appear to be going anywhere, I'm particularly sensitive on this topic.

My pale, intense husband and the baby we conceived about 5 seconds after we started trying would beg to differ.

Can there just be an end to all the How-I-Lost-the-Baby-Weight mags, please? It's not like it isn't bad enough, what with girls at the cash register asking me if I'm already pregnant again.

Maleficent is super evil and scary. I keep seeing parents all in a tizzy about Princess and the Frog saying, "Voodoo! What are they thinking! This is too scary for children! It's satanic!" And I bet all of them own copies of Sleeping Beauty. Parents are weird.

Sarah Palin reminds me of yet another reason why Nancy Pelosi is pretty great. When Pelosi is on tv, she talks about her job, not the fact that she raised 5 kids. Your family is not the same as your politics and using your family the way she does makes me very uncomfortable.

Excellent round-up and take-down of the info involved. As soon as I saw it was self-reporting, I knew it was sketchy. If you'd asked me five years ago, I would've said no. But now, happily, it is a hearty yes.

I think this is very sad. But I have to question one thing: how many times have we heard this story before? Plenty on the news, sure, but these stories are still the small minority of sex offenses. It's usually family members, or people you know who offend. Those stories don't make the news, but they're happening
