Amazon has a fleet of the Rivian Delivery Vans in my area. I’ve been sorely tempted to do just that. I did ask a delivery guy how he liked the Rivian, said it was an absolute game-changer. Must easier to drive, more comfortable, etc. Which just makes me want to ‘borrow’ one even more.

Thank you for a sane post. I have been reading those reports since the ‘80s, and just linked to a C&D test from 2017 saying that, basically, there is almost no performance impact using the donut spare.

Why is it that whenever actual tests are done with cars using donuts, the results are that there is very little actual performance degradation? Seriously, I *think* the first time I remember reading about this was in like ‘87, but here is C&D from 2017:
