I’m a bit confused: did Ryanair mistake him for a different unruly passenger, hence the incorrect letter? Was the unruly-ness alleged on the outgoing flight (and not the return) a flight he was certainly on.....because it could not have been for the one he missed, as his name would not have made it to the manifest.

Bang!  You hit that nail square on the head.

I’ll never understand the glorification of McCandless. He was a witless dreamer who brought about his own death by being ill-equipped and poorly trained for the wilderness (and where he was isn’t even real wilderness). So many people who accomplish amazing things in the outdoors don’t get a tiny piece of the

I’ve never understood people’s standom of this guy. Seems like the poster child for the Darwin Award

Vote Elon off the island!

First, the CEO.

Then the idiot who thought wheel covers larger than the wheels was a good idea.

Ok, so that’s likely the same person.

If the automaker is planning layoffs, where should it start?

Hmmm.... this is hard. It’s not like there’s one person there who makes $56B a year. (I know that salary request got tossed, but you get the idea.)

What’s the most famous vehicle you can see in America?”

Where to cut? That’s easy. Elon Musk :-)

Don’t fix what ain’t broke!

There are clearly 100K+ other people, just like me, who want something that is tried, true, and tested. The 4Runner does just that, and still looks good doing it.

And the crazy thing is they still sell well over 100k of these every year...despite being a 14-15 year old vehicle.

Oh, this is a good one. Granted, they are rock-solid reliable, but we don’t talk enough about how a very popular vehicle for sale in 2024 has a 5 speed auto.

I would imagine the body stamping tools have paid for themselves back in the 80s?

5th Gen 4runner has been essentially the same since 2009 with the engine and transmission being pulled from the previous generation with very little changes.  The Tacoma got a new 3.5 Direct injection V6 and 6 speed auto, then a 2.4 turbo and hybrid- the 4runner is still kicking with a 4.0 V6 and 5 speed auto only.

Been for sale since 1992. Yes, it’s only been available as a cutaway since MY 2015, but this design is over 3 decades old. Took a model year off in 2020 when they switched from the old V10 to the Godzilla.

When you make all other variables equal, all of the vehicles on the GMT800 chassis were the cheapest to insure in America for this precise reason. Heck, they still might be.

On the bright side, if you own a GM BOF Truck or SUV you’ll almost never run out of spare parts.

I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about how many 20+ year old parts GM’s suppliers are still making for these things. This dash is full of parts-bin stuff that I don’t think has been in another GM vehicle for over a decade.

Unchanged since the dark ages. I know it is a work thing and super useful. I have owned a few. No real need to change but still so so old of a design.
