In the US there is no national vehicle inspection, so inspection laws vary state to state, some states have very strict inspections and some have none (and Michigan where DT lives is one of the states that doesn’t require any vehicle inspection).
It depends, my mom liked Camaros and Firebirds when she was younger and had a series of them from the time she started driving until about the time I was in high-school (at which point GM had discontinued the F-body and her 4th gen Trans-Am was getting a little too old to be a daily driver, and she had a Jeep Wrangler…
To anyone making the claim “well sedans are more efficient now too” while true remember MPG is a flawed measurement for comparison purposes and offers diminishing returns as it increases. Gal/100mi. is better so lets look at it from that perspective. A 15 mpg. truck/suv from the late 90s/early 00s uses 6.6 Gal of fuel…
Easy:
Definite CP, it’s a PT Cruiser and I wouldn’t want a working one much less a broken one (and this is a vehicle being known for a tight engine bay and a real pain in the rear to work on). These are the only tools you need to “fix” this piece or junk:
“I haven’t had time to just hard-wire the blower to the battery through a separate fuse and switch” - DT
... and requires premium fuel. This is why turbo engines are downright stupid in “normal” (non-performance) vehicles, any fuel savings (if there actually is any in the real-world) are quickly eaten by the higher cost of premium fuel required by virtually all turbo engines, not to mention the increased maintenance…
Lets see:
The recall wasn’t for XJ Cherokees, it was for ZJ (93-98) and WJ (99-04) Grand Chrokees. The XJ has a rear-mounted fuel tank but it is tucked up a little better and at least partially protected by the leaf-springs and rear-shackles (if a low-nosed vehicle under-rides the rear bumper the leaf-springs should take most…
Good, If EVs can’t stand on their own they should be allowed to fail we shouldn’t keep subsidizing them. I actually support the “usage fee” as well, while I oppose taxes in general, as long as roads are primarily funds by fuel taxes, owners of vehicles that don’t use any gas/diesel should be required to contribute to…
Easy, fly first class (yourself) and stick the kids in the last row of coach, and try to forget they exist for a few hours.
If they made the visibility a little better (i.e. not like driving looking through a mail slot) that would probably help too. I nearly bough a Camaro but couldn’t get over the extremely poor visibility and thus ended up with a Mustang instead.
I guess that worked, but why not just toss in a bug bomb and kill them all (and then remove the nest and carcasses)? I can’t see any compelling reason to let hornets (especially an invasive species like European Hornets) live and (mostly) escape.
ah... nothing like an AWD/4WD vehicle with 4 summer tires in the snow and the idiots that think AWD/4WD means they don’t need snow (or even decent all-season) tires. I got stuck behind someone a few years ago in a similar situation an Audi RS4 Quattro with 4 summer tires that barely had enough tread to pass inspection…
.... now if only they would offer a V6 (a V8, turbo V6, or Diesel would be even better but I’m being realistic). A pickup truck (albeit a midsize one) with a 4-cyl engine (even if it has a turbo) as the only option, why Ford, why???
Of course we have no idea what the quality is like or if it is sustainable, could be Tesla’s version of Gung Ho:
Not always, I got t-boned by one a few years ago (luckily no injuries, but the car was totaled, side-airbags are beneficial but expensive to replace). It was a four lane road, a box truck was stopped at the light in the left lane blocking the view of the right lane, a corolla in the right lane ran the light and I…
The MD90 and Boeing 717 (AKA: MD95 before Boeing re-named it after buying Douglas) have high-bypass engines (IAE V2500 on the MD90, Rolls-Royce/BMW BR715 on the 717).
Just replace the 4X4 post with 1/2" wall steel box section set in concrete (at least 3-4 feet deep), next time they hit it they’re car will need major repair,
