Even HDTVs can produce a Moire' pattern. They occur when there is a slight difference between two picture components, usually the spacing of pixels in the screen and the pattern of something in the picture.

Wrong again. If you're already walking head-downward mostly, then you place a texting screen in front of that already-too-small-field-of-vision, then you've blocked out another large portion of what you might (and probably should) be able to see.

Or, carry a small notepad & pencil, bump into them and yell, "Can't You See I Am Texting!?!?!"

In NYC you don't look around at eye level, let alone point a camera(phone) at stranger's faces. There is a fear of offending someone who might do anything in retaliation, knowing they could easily get away in the crowd after smashing your phone &/or jaw.
