If that had happened Robert would have garnered the title of total douche because Erin was obviously drunk. I think part of California's personality is to be a bit of a jerk, but not a total jerk. The way they played the scene showed us just that. He obviously was making a play early, but he would not go for the win

Robert has really grown on me the last few episodes. He has become one of my favorite characters…if not my favorite character. I hope the writers continue to build this character layer by layer.

Sorry, I see very little Denny Crane at all in Robert, nor do I see any Alan Shore. The only thing all three characters share trait wise is they all are very confident individuals regarding their professions…and, judging by this episode, they all are poorly equipped to deal with emotional relationship and the opposite

Not really…Jim has been basically terrified by Robert since the initial interview. He certainly didn't want to be the one to tell Susan that her husband had forbid Andy hiring her…particularly since Jim already has one "California strike" because he tossed Robert's iPhone in "Doomed".

Glad to see them give Spader something more to do…this has to be boring him to death! Maura Tierney was definitely under utilized during her guest appearance. Too bad these two wonderful actors don't have a show together that would take advantage of their fine talents.

I think Robert just got so caught up in his own good ideas sparked by Kevin's off track ramblings that he forgot Kevin is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Plus the whole plot line was worth it just to see Robert's expression when he comes back to earth and realizes Kevin was just talking about cookies…no

At this point I have to agree!

I'm just the opposite; I love Robert California! Some of my biggest laughs during the show have nothing to do with the dialog, but come from actor James Spader's facial expressions. The writers are making a hash out of a character that should have been edgy and sexual; instead they are down playing him and making the

They have been trying to get on the right side of Robert California since he took over…they are just brown-nosing in order to be on the boss' good side. I have the feeling they all realize it may not be a good thing to be on the new CEO's bad side…particularly since they know he keeps score.

Thank you for your wise words…this is not WAR AND PEACE or one of the classics, it's a comedy. The main objective is to stay true to the character's personalities, but after that all is fair.

I'm on the opposite side of this episode…I loved it. I laughed throughout and really enjoyed all the bits for each and every character. This is show I don't want to dig to deeply into the why. I just want some continuity of character, laughs, and a fun story; The Garden Party supplied all of my wants.
