I'm not sure that there will be a trial by combat - can't the Sparrow or Tommen deny it? I'd have to watch how it worked for Tyrion, but I recall some dialogue about how it could be turned down
Jon's death last year was actually narratively justified and seemingly permanent, and they didn't even have the balls to stick to that.
Great overall comment, but I am standing up applauding for this line:
As opposed to Robb, who had ladles of charisma.
They brought Jon back from the dead so he could lose to Ramsey? Not buying that one.
Brienne.
the Waif who's been shown (repeatedly, to everyone's annoyance) as more than capable of handling Arya in a straight up fight
Keep in mind the technique of the Faceless men is not magical- conservation of mass is definitely a thing (in the books, anyway).
The two living fighters who could take on the FrankenMountain (unhandicapped) are …
The Mountain is a notorious gay basher.
Looking at it, that's pretty clearly Sandor, Oberyn (the Martell insignia is a Sun and Spear) and Gregor.
The Waif is my #1 bet this week. Arya made it thru the closing credits last week, so she's fine. I also think Lance is a solid bet.
Any Tyrell might be a good bet too. It's hard to see Loras making it to the end of the season.
Never read the memoirs. But I read Bruce Catton's two volumes on Grant's civil war service, and Jean Edward Smith's biography. Also John Keegan devotes a section to Grant in The Mask of Command.
Grant's a hero.
There really was never a need to make the first remake. You just can't top the Sinatra-Martin-Davis
I don't think Sansa saw herself as betraying her father.
Random question. How do characters in the GoT world know how old they are? There aren't 4 seasons to a "year", so how do they define years? What would even motivate them to define a year? I mean, what kind of annual "cycle" could they define, that would make the concept of a "year" meaningful?
She is a whopping 13 in the television show. rewatch Season 1 where she talks to Cersei about how old she is.
The Arya storyline ain't great in AFfC and ADwD, but it's a million times worse here. At least in the books it's a way to examine grief, anger and letting go.
