what significance does Howland have outside of confirming the events at the ToJ?

I was interested in the end of episode Jon business. His remark at
the end, "My watch is ended," paired with his long reflecting on his own
torn and bloodied tunic, indicates he's been thinking about this. It's
not that he quit the Night's Watch, but that his death has effectively
expelled him from it. Which means his…
This was the episode that made me happiest this season. Tower of Joy, and FINALLY Jon quits the Night's Watch. Fuck yeah.
If I can put my tinfoil hat on for a minute, does anyone agree with the Howland = High Septon theory?
I really loved the Bendis era. His mix of intimate character stories and universe-sweeping events was exactly the kind of thing I like.

Most probably Shireen. Or Stannis himself.
The whole Kingsguard were soiling themselves at the mere possibility of facing him, their much greater number be damned.
I would think the whole castle and surrounding territories would be a powder keg after Ramsay …
Only death can pay for life, etc. In terms of quantity, it's a zero-sum business.
it's beyond Thoros as to why the Lord of Light would give this power to a besotted, fiery-sword wielding chump like him
They almost had me for a bit maybe 20 minutes into the last episode, but no one even mentioned burning him.
The resurrected don't seem to be completely returned to life. Their wounds don't heal and they don't seem to need food.
