I think Jay and Wally benefit from Barry's existence more than Barry works as lead character if that makes any sense. "The Return of Barry Allen" works because it treats Barry as important but not in a way that eclipses Wally, Jay or any of the other Speedsters featured in Waid's run.

About the only thing I like in Johns's Lantern run is the incredibly petty undercurrent that runs throughout it because he's desperate for you to think Hal has a personalty and any character ever written as criticising him during the few years he was actually interesting needs to be brought to order.
