Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it’s kind of silly for people take issue that it’s a rich, white protagonist when it’s written by a rich, white woman about her own experiences. Is lack of representation a problem? Absolutely. But when it’s a personal story how can you complain? (Speaking mostly about the

they’re forcing religious leaders to perform gay marriage.

I always start out with, “Jesus was a guy who was all about loving everyone, who routinely hung out with a dozen guys in open toed footwear and had a best friend in Mary Magdeline who was a sex worker...”
Sometimes that route works better than others.

Yes, there have been many cases of religious individuals wrongly trying to force their views on others, but the current policy being pushed by LGBT advocates is doing exactly the reverse - forcing their views on others which is equally wrong.

So do you just cherry-pick the parts of the Bible that line up with your prejudices and ignore the rest?

You are a better Christian than most of the ones I see online. Well done sir.

“You need to understand the Scripture in its historical context.” No, God should’ve communicated his word in a way people would understand without a doubt that applies clearly regardless of when it is read. The fact that people (even among believers) can ‘throw down’ Bible verses and both feel completely justified in

I would propose not talking to them and actually listening to them.

You see, I don’t want to “talk to them” or “tell them a story.” I just want them to leave other people the hell alone. I want them to realize where their religious rights both begin and end. And like Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said, “The right to swing my fist ends where the other man’s nose begins.”
