The iPad was most definitely not the first tablet. Archos was making kick ass media machines before Apple, but never got had the same sales force. What I was is that if say apple hypothetically released a machine with the same specs and pricing as the the Playbook, it would have appealed to a hell of a lot more…

What does comparing it to the original iPad's sales acomplish? If this were the first major tablet to be released, I'm sure it would have sold more units than the 1st gen iPad did.

This makes sense when the lines of smartphone and laptop are being blurred nowadays. Subsidized computers for a monthly fee sounds awesome. I wonder if it will have a yearly contract like cellphones. You would probably have to pay at least some cost for the hardware I would imagine.

@khdownes: same with the wii trigger and netflix. If you set it on a pillow or something not so flat, the trigger gets hit and it stops the movie.

All of a sudden obese doesn't happen. It's a consumer's continued choices, bad as they may be. Guaranteed I can make myself obese off of healthy food. Also you can eat "healthy" off of fast food if you make the right choices (i.e. no fries, hold the mayo, small meals). It's excess that's the culprit.

Personally I can't stand it. Don't get me wrong, I like what woot is doing, but gizmodo starting to copy it just seems contrived.
