Yeah Apple is awesome with support. You of course get a 1 year warranty OOTB, so the issues only arise after then. If it's a defect, they usually fix it. I don't think AppleCare is a good buy on their computers, either.

I could buy a clip lamp from Target for $10-$20. Is the Luxo L1 really worth 10+ cheapo clip lamps? A lamp can only get so good. Stick a decent bulb (I use CFLs) in it and you're set.
