I spend maybe 5 minutes/month on bike maintenance...and I don't have to pay anyone labor. 80mph on a bike? No. Even on long downhills here in CO, really experienced cyclists only go up to around 60mph.

Move or something.
Switch to a bike. Going on 4 years without a car, much happier without it.
FreeDNS is awesome! What it lacks in looks, it makes up for with features. I use it as the DNS for one of my personal domains and have a wget script setup to update the IP Address of my home machine periodically. Definitely propagates faster than any other DNS I've used.
I am lucky enough to live in a town with bike lanes on over 95% of main roads...so your argument is invalid.
As someone who bikes exclusively around town...I really really like being that smug guy that pulls up next to the 'speeders' at every red light. Generally, I can keep up with cars in areas with speed limits <= 35mph thanks to lights and stop signs.
College can suck it.
Ikea side table with a shelf attached...$24. It doesn't raise and lower, but I have an old barstool for when I need to sit down for a bit.
Since the dawn of my Android journey, I have always used roms. I have never been satisfied with manufacturer tweaks and even when I got the Nexus 4, I still ran a rom to get many of the customizable features I had grown to love. But when Kit Kat dropped and I wiped everything to switch the factory images so I could…
I use the Chrome extension "Silver Bird" to keep my twitter feed out of the way yet easily accessible. Whenever I hit a moment in the day where I have a minute or two to kill, I quickly scan through my feed to see whats going on. It's a really easy and quick way to stay up to date with current events.
I don't know if the reference to herd immunity quite fits in this circumstance...unless not using antibacterials is the equivalent of being immunized in this analogy. If so, more people should be like me. If not, then I fail to see how your comment is valid.
I bet you couldn't pick me out of a crowd with your eyes or nose if you tried.
Soap is just a term we use for a surfactant. It consists of molecules with a polar head group and a non-polar tail. The dual nature of these molecules allow them to form spheres around non-polar molecules and allow them to become soluble in water. Basically soaps coat non-soluble things like oils and allow water…
Yes moderation is always good. I do indeed wash my hands after handling raw meet and when preparing food for more than just myself.
This is by no means scientific, but I hardly ever use soap and I freaking dominate sickness. Really, the only time I use soap is after touching really dirty things (like working on the car and getting oil and road grime on my hands) or if I touch something smelly (like when the poo bag rips when picking up after my…
My advice: don't buy a mountain bike unless you truly, absolutely know that you will be riding it on a trail. I see so many people who buy crappy mountain bikes just to use them on the road and make their life harder. Skinny tires make a huge difference and will make your commute much easier. Also, I'd say most…
Texting and driving should most definitely be a costly fine. It's real easy to think you're good at handling both but you're probably not. It can be tempting to pick up the phone and see who just sent you a message, though, so I created a simple Tasker profile that will read any texts or hangouts messages that I…
On a similar note to the wish list. I take photos of things I need, put the photos into a note in Google Keep, and have it remind me when I get to the store (Geofences FTW). This becomes really handy for things like deodorant or bike tubes as I have the photo to remind me of my deodorant scent and tire size (I get…
I prefer lots of small vacations. My wife and I take a quick 3 to 5 day trip almost every month during spring, summer, and fall, and ski every weekend in the winter. There's no catch up at work, we don't really have to budget for them, and we are constantly having fun instead of having to wait a year between trips.…
Been a single car family for 2 years now, can only think of a couple instances where it was moderately inconvenient. I bike almost everywhere and my wife has a 50cc scooter for when I'm using the car to do things. The savings are huge and most people can probably make it work if they really need to.
