Sam Rockwell killed it as Zaphod. Alan Rickman is the perfect Marvin. They cast Mos Def as the ginger Ford. It was inspired casting, a la Morgan Freeman being cast as Red in Shawshank Redemption.

Same here! I saw the movie first, and read the book later. I thought the movie was a good adaptation. There was no way they could fit everything from the book into the film. The book created an entire galaxy; the movie was an enjoyable slice of that galaxy.
